Gregory John “Greg” Peterson, 63, of Alexandria, MN, passed away unexpectedly due to failing health in his home on July 28, 2021.
Greg was born in Crookston on May 4, 1958 to Donald “Rewind” and Betty (Paasche) Peterson. He was baptized and confirmed in the Trinity Lutheran Church and graduated from Central High School as a member of the Class of 1976. He then attended Montana State University in Bozeman, later transferring to Bemidji (MN) State College. In 1980 Greg was united in marriage to Kathy Hollands and 2 children were born to their union, Jessica and Jonathan. They later moved from Crookston to Paynesville, MN where Greg was employed in sales with the Shoreline Trailer Company. Greg had been making his home in Alexandria for many years. In 2003 he married Kim Walker and their daughter, Madison, was born a few years later.
Greg enjoyed the outdoors and spending time hunting, fishing, and golfing with old and new friends. Snow skiing with a high school friend made for some great memories. Greg took pride in having earned a Private Pilot’s license and in past years had loved flying to Crookston and around the region. His kids fondly remember being taught by him to water ski at the lake, and those lessons extended to their friends and neighbors as well.
Loving family members include his 3 children: Jessica (Anthony) Hoff of Boca Raton, FL, Jonathan Peterson (Christie Desautel) of Minneapolis, MN, and Madison Peterson of Alexandria, MN; 3 grandchildren; his loving mother, Betty Peterson of Crookston, MN; brother-in-law, Joseph Wenner of Minneapolis; a nephew and 2 nieces; an aunt; several cousins; and many friends. Very sadly, Greg was preceded in death by his father, Don “Rewind” Peterson on September 6, 2014; and his sister and best friend, Deborah Wenner, who passed on May 6, 2010 after bravely battling cancer. May God bless the memory of Gregory John Peterson.
