Alice Carlson

Alice Dorothy Carlson, age 96, Crookston, MN, died Tuesday, November 5, 2013 at the Sanford Bemidji Medical Center, Bemidji. Alice Dorothy King was born on May 13, 1917 at Euclid, MN, daughter of John Francis and Miranda (Hunter) King. She grew up at Euclid and attended grade school there, she later attended and graduated from St. Joseph's Academy in Crookston. Alice was united in marriage with Albert Levy Carlson on December 23, 1941 at Fisher, MN. They continued to live at Euclid until 1947, when they moved in to Crookston. Alice enjoyed knitting, sewing and her flower garden. She also enjoyed carpentry, helping to build three homes including their lake cabin. Alice was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her husband, Albert, died on January 12, 2008. She had recently moved to the Long Lake Loon Lodge in Bemidji. Alice is survived by her daughter: Kathleen (Harley) Crocker of Crookston; two grandchildren: Kevin (Leah Oakes) Crocker of Erskine and Kellie (Jordan) Lindquist of Pennington, MN; two great-grandchildren: Kolton Crocker and Maya Lindquist. Alice was preceded in death by her parents: John and Miranda King; nine siblings: Katherine Obrecht, Nell Thomas, Clara Hansen, William King, Mary Schwartz, John King, Hazel Needham, Edward King and Esther Kirk; and her husband: Albert. Alice's funeral will be held at 2:00 pm, Monday, November 11, 2013 at the Stenshoel-Houske Funeral Home, Crookston, with visitation for one hour before the service at the funeral home. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery, Crookston.
