Ann M. Evans, 88, of Crookston, MN, died early Wednesday evening, September 10, 2014, at RiverView Health in Crookston, with her family at her side. Ann was born on her family's farm near Gentilly, MN on May 11, 1926, the daughter of Joseph and Helena (Scharmer) Page. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Gentilly and attended a nearby country school. On September 27, 1945 she was united in marriage to Maurice Hasty and to this union three daughters were born. On April 21, 1956 Ann was united in marriage to Wallace Evans at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Crookston. The couple made their home in Crookston and had been happily married for forty-nine and a half years at the time of Wally's passing on January 11, 2006. Ann was employed at St. Francis Hospital in Crookston from 1956 until 1970. When the hospital closed she worked for a short time at JC Penney's and Riverview Hospital, and then in 1972 started working for Food Services at the University of Minnesota-Crookston. In 1981 she began employment at Mount St. Benedict, retiring in 1992 after eleven years with the Sisters of St. Benedict. Even in retirement Ann found that she wanted to remain busy, and began cleaning homes for several Crookston families. From 2006 until 2011 she was a Foster Grandparent for Tri-Valley, and was a much loved grandma to her many 'babies.' She had moved to the Villa St. Vincent in February of 2013. Sadly, Ann's daughter, Shirley Bouwman, recently passed away on April 20, 2014. She was also a longtime member of the Auxiliaries of VFW Post 1902, American Legion Post 20, and Eagles Aerie 873. Ann greatly enjoyed doing yard work and tending her vegetable and flower gardens. In her younger days she made quilts and was known for her beautiful embroidery work. Ann will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by everyone whose life she touched. Family members include her daughter and son-in-law, Marlys and Kerry McFarlin of Crookston, MN; five grandchildren: Tracy Peterson, Lisa (Brian) Schumacher, Sherry (Steele) Senske, Christopher Peterson, and Michelle (Kevin) Johnson; seven great-grandchildren: Allison, Heather, Kyle, Sierra, Katy, Steele, and Samuel; a sister, Leona (David) Braaten of Paulden, AZ; two sisters-in-law, Delores Page of Crookston, and Audrey (Sam) Blatter of Anaheim, CA; two brothers-in-law, Ray Fahrenkopf of Simi Valley, CA and Lindy Herberg of Crookston; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
