Anne Marie Pierce

June 28, 1951 — January 2, 2025

Ada

Anne Marie Pierce, 73, was born in Crookston, MN, on June 28, 1951. Third daughter of Raymond Aymar Pierce and Lucille Ruth (Noah) Pierce. Anne passed away peacefully on January 2, 2025.

She was loved by her parents, two older sisters, Patricia and Madonna, and a younger brother, Raymond Charles Pierce. She was a great friend. Anne had many interests, but music and piano were part of her from first grade on. After the piano she learned how to play the pipe organ at the Old Cathedral and played for the adult choir for many years. Anne loved ice skating and so enjoyed winter and being part of “The Ice Follies” through many fun years.

Education started at the Cathedral Grade School, grades 1 – 8, and continued at Mount St. Benedict High School, grades 9 – 12; graduating in 1969. Anne then went on to the College of St. Teresa in Winona, MN, where she earned her BA in music. After which she went to Lawrence, Kansas, and earned her Master of Music Therapy degree at Kansas University.

Anne worked for many years as a Music Therapist at the Laura Baker School in Northfield, MN. From there, she moved to Eden Prairie, MN, where she enjoyed many years living next to a nature preserve area with miles of walking paths right out her door. She was proud to have reached her goal of a 30,000-step walking average.

Anne also enjoyed being a travel assistant for “Flying Wheels” and did many trips helping wheel-bound travelers navigate their travels. Anne kept her music alive teaching piano in her townhouse; sharing the piano and making lasting friends in the process. During this time, Anne also wrote the verses for the “icare” greeting cards. She also wrote and published her Christmas book, “So Many Gifts.” Anne loved photography and perfected her skills working at weddings, etc. with her niece, Leah, and later on, on her own. Anne was an avid reader and enjoyed her book club, sharing her pastime with many good friends.

Anne moved to Fargo, ND, at the end of 2021 and became a resident at Edgewood Vista. It was a big change. The extended family of the Noah and Harvey cousins were there for Anne. She was able to go out for movies, the hairdresser, go to family get-togethers, a lunch or dinner. She was there for 3 years prior to moving to The Benedictine Community in Ada, MN. Anne was in Ada for only one week, from December 26, 2024 to January 2, 2025. Anne passed on peacefully and is now free from the health issues that took her voice and drained her strength. She was tired and ready to be called home to rest.

She was a great friend to those who knew her. Anne is survived by her brother, Raymond Charles Pierce of Crookston, MN. Brother-in-law, Henry Langer of Houston, TX. Niece, Sarah (Atsushi) Takagi, daughters Aika and Mika of Houston, TX. Nephew, Tim (Karma) Langer, daughters Autumn and Addie and a son, Pierce of Denver, CO. Niece, Stephanie (Willie) Fluharty, daughters Grace and Caroline and a son, Joe of Virginia Beach, VA. Nephew, Phillip Langer of Laredo, TX. And Grand-niece, Lucy Wagner of Houston, TX.

Anne was preceded in death by both parents, Raymond A and Lucille R. Pierce. Niece, Leah Campbell Wagner. Then recently by both her sisters, Madonna Thein and Patricia Langer. And Brother-in-law, Peter Thein. Many aunts and uncles as well as cousins have also passed and are all missed very much. Anne is with them all, together again.
