Arturo "Art" Rocha, 89, of Fisher, MN, died Wednesday morning, March 18, 2015, at the Senior Living Center in McIntosh, MN, with several of his family members at his bedside. Art was born at Maxwell, TX on May 27, 1925, one of six children of the union of Merced and Lorenza (Cordova) Rocha. He grew up in San Marcus, TX and later came to Fisher with his family. In 1954 Art and Amelia Davila were united in marriage in a civil ceremony in Texas, and on July 22, 1957 they again spoke their vows at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Crookston. Art and Amelia made their home in Fisher where they raised their eight children. Art was employed at the Villa St. Vincent in Crookston for many years until his retirement. He also worked seasonally on the Harold and Robert Ross farm helping put the crops in and harvesting them in the fall. In retirement he was employed at the Crookston Daily Times and also provided janitorial service at the Crookston Eagles Hall, where he was affectionately known as "Lucky." Two years ago Art moved to Crookston when Amelia became a resident of the nursing home in McIntosh. Last August, when his health began to fail, he moved to the Senior Living Center at McIntosh. Art was a former longtime parishioner of St. Francis Catholic Church at Fisher, and currently a member of the Cathedral parish in Crookston. He had also held membership in Crookston Eagles Aerie #873 for over 40 years. Art loved his wife, Amelia, and their family with all his heart, and there wasn't anything he wouldn't do for them. He enjoyed entertaining everyone at cookouts, and looked forward to playing bingo at the Eagles on Saturdays. He will be very lovingly remembered and sadly missed. Art is survived by Amelia, his wife of 57 years; their 8 children: Arthur (Emma) Rocha of Maxwell, TX, Arlene (Lars) Hamland of Kalispell, MT, Robert (Lynnette) Rocha of Crookston, MN, Molly Marshall of Waco, TX, Irene (Shannon) Gladue, Frank Rocha, and Nora (Steve) Geatz, all of Crookston, and Jay Rocha of Kalispell; 15 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives. The last of his family, Art was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings: Pedro "Pete" Rocha, Frank Rocha, Consuelo Martinez, Juan Rocha, and Elia Rodriguez.
