Bessie Marie Anderson, 86, of Crookston, Minnesota, died at her home on Monday, June 16, 2014. Bessie was born in Crookston on March 22, 1928, the daughter of Willard and Mary (Berglund) Lee. She grew up in Crookston and graduated from Central High School. Bessie was united in marriage to John W. Anderson on October 2, 1948. Bessie and John made their home in Crookston and together raised their son, Jerry. During her working career she was employed at Jiffy Fry and then for several years as a cook for the Sisters of St. Joseph at St. Joseph's Provincial House. Bessie was a loving wife and mother and was especially proud of her three grandkids, Brooke, Maxx, and Jared. One of her favorite pastimes was writing poetry, and throughout her life her words gave her great joy and comfort. Bessie will be very sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who were part of her life.
Bessie is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Jerry W. and Patty Anderson of Perham, MN; three grandchildren, Brooke Elizabeth Anderson of Los Angeles, CA, Maxx Ryan Anderson and his wife, Lori, of Shafer, MN, and Jared Thomas Anderson (Kendra Bosche) of Fargo, ND; two great-grandchildren, Gabriella and Camille Anderson; a brother and sister-in-law, Dan and Kay Lee of Plymouth, MN; two sisters-in-law, Edna Bendickson and Helen Lyczewski, both of Crookston, MN; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Bessie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John; parents, Willard and Mary Lee; parents-in-law, Oscar and Augusta Anderson; and siblings: Glenn, Samuel, and Wilbert Lee, Florence Tate, Ruth Radke Hagemeister, Hazel Fahy, and Margie Brooks. May God bless Bessie's memory. The funeral service for Bessie Marie Anderson will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, June 20, 2014, in the First Presbyterian Church, Crookston, with The Rev. Bill Reck, officiating. Visitation will be at the Church for one hour prior to the funeral. Interment will be in the Oakdale Cemetery in Crookston. The Stenshoel-Houske Funeral Home is assisting with funeral arrangements.
