Betty Caillier

Betty Ann Caillier died peacefully in Crookston, MN on May 30, 2016 at the age of 84. Betty was born on April 6, 1932 in Crookston, MN to Frank and Grace (Van Raden) Dowdle. She attended Cathedral High School in Crookston. On May 15, 1951, Betty was united in marriage to Stephen Caillier at Cathedral Catholic Church in Crookston. They resided in Crookston for a few years until moving onto the family farm outside of Gentilly, where they raised their four children-Edward, Daniel, Craig, and Cheryl. Betty took great pride in raising her family and keeping up with all the activities of a busy, growing farm. She enjoyed taking care of a large garden which included canning and freezing vegetables for the winter. She also enjoyed family trips to the Twin Cities to visit her siblings. Betty will be remembered most for her gifts of conversation and sense of humor. She always had a story to tell. Trips to the Dairy Queen for a strawberry sundae meant the world to her. Betty enjoyed playing and riding bike with her grandchildren. Betty is survived by her husband of 65 years, Stephen. Her children, Edward (Linda) Caillier of Vadnais Heights, MN, Daniel (Lana) Caillier of Gentilly, MN, Craig (Renee) Caillier, of Thief River Falls, MN, and Cheryl (Dale) Amiot of Brooklyn Park, MN; grandchildren-Aaron, Timothy, Ross, Jeffrey, Jordan, Jessica, Jacob and step-grandchildren, Katie and Kelly; 7 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her brother Charles (Camille) Dowdle of Cambria, CA. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings Cathy, Bill, and Jerry. The family of Betty Caillier would like to extend sincere appreciation and thanks to the staff at Villa St Vincent Nursing Home for the care and compassion she received throughout her years there.
