Betty Lorraine Hanson, 90, of Sacramento, CA, and formerly of Nielsville, MN, died in Sacramento on October 22, 2013. Betty Lorraine Hanson was born in Tolnah, North Dakota on April 14, 1923 to David and Lulu B. Moore. She had one brother and 3 sisters. She married Alfred M. Hanson on July 2, 1943 while he was on medical leave and having his appendix removed. They made their home in Nielsville, MN and raised their four children there. Betty was a homemaker but went to work in a nearby library in 1967 until her retirement when they began spending their winters in Mesa, AZ and eventually moved there permanently. She was an accomplished seamstress and loved collecting "ideas" of crafts and projects to do once she had the time. Betty was a leader in 4H, a lifelong member of the American Legion Auxiliary, St. Petri Lutheran church in Nielsville and Redeemer in Mesa, AZ, as well as a Gold Star Mother. She spent her last years in CA and died on October 22, 2013. Betty and Allie had four children: Sharon Seegmiller, Renee Troselius (and spouse John), David Hanson and Alan Hanson, who was killed during the Viet Nam Conflict. She loved having grandchildren and great grandchildren in her life. Alan and Laura Seegmiller and their children, Evelyn and Stellan. Justin and Susan Knight and their children, Sterling and Carmel. Betty's graveside service will be held at 10 AM, Saturday, June 21st at the St. Petri Cemetery at Nielsville, with the Rev. Valerian Ahles, officiating. The Stenshoel-Houske Funeral Home will be assisting with those arrangements.
