Brian Johnson

Brian John Johnson, 48, of Crookston, MN, died at his residence Wednesday, August 10, 2016. He had been in failing health for the last few years. Brian was born at Crookston on May 1, 1968, the son of Lowell and Diane (Wilkens) Johnson. He was baptized and confirmed at the First Presbyterian Church, attended Crookston schools, and graduated from Central High School in 1986. While in school Brian played baseball and wrestled, and also boxed with the Grand Forks Boxing Club for a few years as well. To his many friends he was affectionately known as "Jumpy." Brian attended the U of M-Crookston for a year and then began working in sales for various businesses in Duluth, Bismarck, Thief River Falls, and Crookston. For nine years he was employed by American Crystal Sugar in Crookston before taking early retirement for health reasons. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with family and friends, and was an avid sports fan of the Vikings, Twins, and UND Fighting Sioux Hockey. Brian will be forever missed by his loving family and many friends. Family members include his mother, Diane Rosenberg of Mentor, MN; sister, Cori (Jeff) Brown of Perham, MN; brother, Shane (Belinda) Johnson of Crookston; nieces and nephews: Laura (Brady) Jorud, Lindsey (Blaine) Goering, Jared Johnson, and Tanner Johnson; grandnephew and grandniece, Joseph and Ashlyn Goering; uncles, Dennis Wilkens of St. Hilaire, MN and Daryl (Cathy) Wilkens of Grand Forks, ND; and several cousins and other relatives. Brian was preceded in death by his father, Lowell, who died in 1986; his stepfather, Lowell Rosenberg, who died in 1996; and his grandparents, Johnny and Dorothy Johnson, and Paul and Ruth Wilkens. Visitation with Brian's family will be held from 6-8:00pm Wednesday, August 17, 2016, at the Stenshoel-Houske Funeral Home in Crookston. There will be no service.
