Daniel Clarence Gruhot, 51, of Ashburn, VA, and a Crookston, MN native, died accidently at his home on Saturday, April 12, 2014, while working on his classic Camaro. Dan was born in Crookston on September 24, 1962, the son of David and Delores (Pokrzywinski) Gruhot. He was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith and while growing up on the family farm attended Lincoln Elementary, Highland Middle School, and Central High School in Crookston. Dan enlisted in the US Army on July 16, 1980 and served overseas in Germany for nearly all of his tour of duty. For his service to his country he was awarded the Expert Rifleman Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, and the Driver and Mechanic Badge. He received his honorable discharge on July 16, 1983 and returned home. Dan later moved to Salt Lake City, UT and was employed in the construction business, both there and in Arizona. After moving to Ashburn, VA Dan began working for the Telos Corp as an OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) manager. He had been with the Company for the past 23 years and was a very valued employee who will be sadly missed by his supervisors and co-workers. Dan had been sharing a home in Ashburn with his best friend of 34 years, Adam Warmsbecker, a native of the McIntosh, MN area. Dan was a huge fan of the Minnesota Vikings; exhibited by the fact that he wore some kind of Viking t-shirt or jersey every day of his life, named his dog, "Viking", and it was rumored that his blood flowed purple. He also enjoyed working on, and driving, his 1980 Chevrolet Camaro. Dan remained loyal to his hometown and kept up with the news from Crookston everyday by going online to find out what was happening. He called his mother, Delores, every Tuesday without fail, and spoke with his brothers and sisters regularly as well. Everyone, family and friend alike, loved Dan, and he will be remembered for always living his life according to the Golden Rule. May God bless Dan's memory. Dan is survived by his mother, Delores Gruhot, of Crookston, MN; 3 brothers and 5 sisters: David (Sandi) Gruhot of Fargo, ND, Louis (Debbie) Gruhot of West Valley City, UT, Jeanette (Kevin) Pierce of Grand Forks, ND, his twin sister, Diane (Ron) Martin of Grand Forks, Kathy (Curt) Aamot of Crookston, Robert (Heidi) Gruhot of Gaithersburg, MD, Patsy Clement (fiance' David Rynestad) of Grand Forks, and Sue (Dave) LeGare of Dilworth, MN; his best friend, Adam Warmsbecker of Ashburn, VA; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Dan was preceded in death by his father, David T. Gruhot, who died on September 20, 2001; his grandparents, Stanley and Lucille Gruhot, and Florian and Helen Pokrzywinski.
