David Goering

David A. Goering, age 82, Crookston, MN, died Saturday, November 9, 2013 at Riverview Health, Crookston, surrounded by his loving family. David Anthony Goering was born on August 27, 1931 at Brandon, MN, son of Jacob and Hortulana (Kracher) Goering. He grew up and was educated at Brandon. He was united in marriage with Shirley Felling on April 18, 1955 at Elrosa, MN. They made their home in Alexandria and Cold Spring, before moving to Crookston in 1963. He worked for the Great Northern Railroad (now BNSF) for fifty years working on Buildings and Bridges or B&B. David enjoyed woodworking, gardening, fishing, canoeing and camping (near Brandon, MN). He also enjoyed turtle hunting. He loved spending time with his family. He was an honorary member of the Brandon (MN) Knights of Columbus (memorials are preferred to the KC's Council # 1995). David is survived by his wife: Shirley; his children: Brenda (Al) Hagemeier of Fargo, ND, Roberta (Roger) Valley of Red Lake Falls, MN, David (Kelly) Goering, JR of Plymouth, MN, Charles (Kim) Goering of Crookston, MN, Donald Goering of Grand Forks, ND, Craig (Kristy) Goering of Grand Forks, ND, Duane (Alice) Goering of Peyton, CO, Edward (Doris) Goering of Colorado Springs, CO and Tracy (Jeff) Musolf of Shawnee, KS; twenty five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters: James (Gina) Goering of Crystal, MN, Cyrilla Brixius of St. Cloud, MN, Lanie Van Sloun of Minneapolis, MN, Edward (Kay) Goering of St. Cloud, MN, Daniel (Lorelie) Goering in Lexington, South Carolina, Chris (Dennis) Korkowski of Cold Spring, MN and Rebecca (Wayne) Chounard of Cold Spring, MN; a sister-in-law: Marita Goering of St. Cloud, MN. David was preceded in death by his parents: Jacob and Hortulana Goering; two sisters: Johanna Lambertz and Charlotte Goering; and two brother: Charles Goering and Cloud Goering. David's funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm, Thursday, November 14, 2013 at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Crookston. Visitation will be at the Stenshoel-Houske Funeral Home in Crookston on Wednesday, November 13, 2013 from 5 to 7 pm, with a prayer service at 7 pm, and also visitation at the church for one hour before the service on Thursday. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Crookston.
