David Rodriguez

September 20, 1956 — November 12, 2017

David Balboa Rodriguez, 61, of Crookston, MN, died at his home Sunday morning, November 12, 2017 surrounded by his family. David was born in Idaho Falls, ID on September 20, 1956, the son of Juan and Carmen (Balboa) Rodriguez. He lived in several states while growing up and working with his family, as a migrant worker. In May of 1975 David married Rosa Maria Avrigo in Brackettville, TX. He was educated as a welder at the Northland Colleges in East Grand Forks and Thief River Falls, and at the Detroit Lakes Technical College. David was employed for many years at Dee Incorporated, and later for New Flyer Inc, both in Crookston, until retiring in 2009 due to ill health. David and Rose Mary made their home in Crookston and also spent time over the years at their residences in Brackettville and Crystal City, TX. He was a member of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception parish in Crookston.

David is survived by his loving wife, Rose Mary; mother, Carmen Rocha of Crystal City, TX; 3 children: Victoria and Joseph Ramirez of Crookston, MN, David Rodriguez Jr. of Denver, CO, and Veda Deliah and Jeremy Lane of Grand Forks, ND; 5 grandchildren: Desiree, Joseph, Isaac, and Dukessa Ramirez, and KeyAnna Rodriguez; 4 siblings: Juan (Sylvia) Rodriquez, and Lupe Cardenas (Manuel Cardenas) of Crystal City, Carmen Rocha of San Antonio, TX, and Anna (Jack) Diaz of Carrizo Springs, TX; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his father, Juan Rodriguez Sr.; step-father, Max Rocha; sister, Gloria Terrazas; brother, Raymond Rodriguez; in-laws, Victoriano and Guadalupe Abrego, and his grandparents.

David loved life, loved to ride, loved to party, and lived life to the fullest in his healthier days. He loved his motorcycles and traveling across the states with the wind in his hair. He loved spending time with his family in Crystal City, Texas. He was a hard worker; it was important to him to work hard every day, his momma instilled this value in him. Every year he got ready to drive beet truck. He loved the State of Florida and if he could, he would have made that his place to retire, “fun in the sun”.  He would love to spend time with his grandchildren, feeding them any and all the junk food he could find. David’s body was no match for his strong spirit, now his spirit can once again be free and wild with no bounds in heaven.  David will be truly missed by his family and friends.

A funeral service for David Rodriguez will be held at 7:00pm, Wednesday, November 15, 2017, in the Stenshoel-Houske Funeral Home in Crookston with Fr. Mario Prada, presiding. Visitation will be from 5-7:00pm.
