Debra Jean Dufault, age 55, of Fosston, MN, and formerly of Crookston, MN, died early Sunday morning, June 15, 2014, at Essentia Health in Fosston after a short illness. Debbie was born in Crookston on January 8, 1959, the daughter of Norman and Virginia (Melbye) Dufault. She was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith and grew up on the family farm near Gentilly, MN. Debbie attended Special Education classes in the Crookston Public Schools. In October of 1979 she moved to Fosston to become a resident of the REM group home there, and for many years participated in the programs of the East Polk County DAC. Debbie was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Fosston. She eagerly anticipated visits with her family, and especially looked forward to the big gatherings that took place at Christmas and the 4th of July. She loved attending live musical performances and listening to recordings by her favorite singer, Tom Jones, who she once traveled to see in concert at Winnipeg. Debbie was cared for long and lovingly by the staff of the Fosston REM group home, the East Polk County DAC, and the entire Foss ton community.
Debbie leaves two sisters and their spouses: Patricia and Daniel Gramer of Land O'Lakes, FL, and Catherine and Douglas Munn of Bloomington, MN; five brothers and their spouses: James and Susan (Morinville) Dufault of Crookston, MN, Gregory and Mary Kay (Stainbrook) Dufault of Howard, SD, Timothy and Marlene (Laney) Dufault and Jeffrey and Debbie (Lyczewski) Dufault, of Crookston, and William and Sandra (Domogalla) Dufault of Savage, MN; fifteen
nieces and nephews; nine great-nieces and nephews; an aunt and uncle, Donna and Douglas Beiseker of Crookston; and many cousins, other relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Norman and Virginia; grandparents, Ralph and Emma Melbye and J.B. and Alma Dufault; and many aunts and uncles. May God bless Debbie's memory. The Mass of Christian Burial for Debra Jean Dufault will be held at 1:00 p.m.Thursday, July 3, 2014 at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Crookston. Visitation will be at the Cathedral for one hour prior to the funeral. Interment will be at St. Peter's Cemetery in Gentilly. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be given in Debbie's name to the East Polk County DAC, 326 Mark Avenue North, Fosston, MN 56542.
