Diane Urness

Diane Michelle Urness, 57, of Crookston, MN, died at her residence, of a heart attack, early Friday morning, November 2, 2012. Diane was born in Crookston on October 17, 1955, one of five children of the union of Milo and Blanche (Gullickson) Urness. She grew up in Beltrami, MN and graduated from Fertile High School in 1973. Diane then worked in the office of the Union Ready-Mix Company in Crookston, and was later employed by the Crookston Times for over twenty years. At different times she provided nanny care for several months at Sioux Falls, SD following the births of her niece, Katelynn, and nephew, Lucas. Prior to her retirement Diane was with Tri-Valley in Crookston doing housekeeping. Her favorite pastimes included listening to the "oldies" on the radio, and watching her favorite soaps and game shows on television. Diane loved her family dearly and looked forward to trips to visit those who lived in Wisconsin and South Dakota. She will be very sadly missed and remembered with great love. Diane is survived by her daughter, Michelle Urness, and her companion, Chad Merrill, of New Richmond, WI; and three grandchildren: Michelle's daughter, Danielle Adelman of New Richmond, and Chad's children, Chelsea Merrill and Martin Zuniga, also of New Richmond. She leaves her father, Milo Urness of Crookston, MN; four siblings: Danny Urness of Crookston, David Urness of Bemidji, MN, Denise Urness of Crookston, and Darrin Urness and his wife, Paula, of Sioux Falls, SD; her niece and nephew, Katelynn and Lucas of Sioux Falls; and an aunt, Lorraine Larson of Fertile, MN. She was preceded in death by her mother, Blanche; and grandparents, Melvin and Myrtle Urness and Gullick and Minnie Gullickson. May God bless Diane's memory. A memorial service for Diane Michelle Urness will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 6, 2012, at the Stenshoel-Houske Funeral Home in Crookston with the Rev. Jo Gast, officiating. Visitation with Diane's family will be for one hour prior to the funeral.
