Donna Mae Engel, 88, of Fisher, MN joined her Lord peacefully on March 23, 2018. Born October 30, 1929 to Karl and Gladys Rossberg in Fisher, MN. On December 18, 1948 she was united in marriage with Robert Richard Akerlund in Fisher, MN. While in the Air Force they resided in North Dakota, Mississippi, Georgia, Virginia, and Texas. She was widowed in 1954. On a snowy and stormy April 7, 1956 she was united in marriage to Eldore Herbert Engel in East Grand Forks, MN. They made their home on the Engel farm in rural Fisher, MN; she thrived in her capacity as a farmer’s wife. She was a lifelong Christian and member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Fisher. She had a passion for bridge, enjoyed crocheting and loved to spend time with her family. Her family fondly remembers her creative gift giving, her numerous hot dishes, her caramel corn, and her flare for fashion.
Donna is survived by her daughter Roberta (Gregg) Akerlund-Kotas of Bemidji; son Raleigh (Gail) Engel of Fisher, MN; grandchildren, Noah, Reed, Jenifer, Preston, Alex and Rachel; 5 great grandchildren, 3 nieces and 3 nephews. Donna was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Robert, her husband Eldore, her sisters Carol Rossberg and Ardith Engel, her Nephew Kent Engel, and her brothers and sisters-in-law.
Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m., followed by the memorial service at 2 p.m., Tuesday, March 27, at Stenshoel-Houske Funeral Home in Crookston, Minn. The Rev. Robert Wentzel will officiate. Inurnment will be in the spring in Greenwood Cemetery, Fisher, MN. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church in Fisher, MN.
