Doris Isabel Albright, age 105, a longtime Crookston, MN resident, died Monday evening, February 2, 2015, at the Clayco Care Center in Barnesville, MN. Doris was born at Souris, ND on December 8, 1909, one of four children of the union of Henry and Jennie (Norgren) Peterson. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith, grew up at Vergas, MN, and was a 1927 graduate of nearby Frazee High School. Doris then attended Moorhead (MN) State Teachers College, earning a teaching certificate in 1928. For the next 4 years she taught at a rural school in Ottertail County. On June 8, 1932 she was united in marriage to William C. "Bill" Albright at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, rural Vergas. Doris and Bill made their home near Pelican Rapids, MN, where Bill owned and operated the Crystal Lida Resort and also had a State Farm Insurance agency. Their marriage would be blessed by the births of four children: Daniel, Susan, Karen, and Robert. In 1941 State Farm offered Bill the opportunity to oversee operations in a thirteen county area in northern Minnesota, so in January of that year the family moved to Crookston. Doris and Bill were longtime members of Our Savior's Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday school and Vacation Bible School. She was also actively involved with the Afternoon Guild, held office in the Women's Missionary League, and participated in Ruth Bible Study. For many years Doris held memberships in the Matrons Club and Minakwa Country Club, and was a Cub Scout Den Leader in younger days. She and Bill enjoyed time spent with their growing family; keeping up with their activities and proudly sharing in their many accomplishments. Bill passed away on October 7, 1997. Doris was a resident of The Summit in Crookston for 17 years until moving to the Clayco Care Center in Barnesville on September 16, 2013 to be near her family there. Doris was a lovely, gracious woman who always had a kind word for everyone; she was non-judgmental, and looked for, and found, the best in one and all. She lived her faith, and served as a loving example of a faith filled life to all who knew her. Doris was a constant joy to her family, as they were to her. Loving family members include her 3 living children, sons-in-law, and daughter-in-law: Daniel Albright of Barnesville, MN, Phil Larson of Fargo, ND (husband of Susan), Karen and David Bang of Erskine, MN, and Robert and Joyce Albright of Dent, MN; 10 grandchildren: David (Jodi Capistrant) Albright, Elizabeth Albright, Rick (Izzie) Larson, Ann (Steven) Sanders, Michael Bang (special friend, Julie Johnson), Kristi (Todd) Innes, Amy (Michael) Mantooth, Matthew (Lisa) Albright, Jeremy (Amy Drayton) Albright, and Emily (Chris) Kennelly; 15 great-grandchildren and a great-great granddaughter; a sister, Henrietta Nelson of Puyallup, WA; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives. In addition to Bill, her beloved husband of 65 years, Doris was preceded in death by her daughter, Susan Larson, who passed away on March 26, 2014; daughter-in-law, Nancy Albright, who passed away on April 22, 2007; two infant grandsons, Eric Bang and Carl Albright; her parents, Henry and Jennie Peterson; brother, Clifford Peterson and his wife, Myrtle; sister, Fern Buscher and her husband, Alfred; and brother-in-law, Bud Nelson. May God richly bless the memory of Doris Isabel Albright.
