Doris Polley (Brule), passed away May 31, 2015 at home with family by her side. Doris was born on July 4, 1928 in Stephen, Minnesota to Isaac and Margaret Trudeau. She was united in marriage to Harvey Brule, and from that union came 8 children. Sadly, Harvey passed away in 1995. She spent her life being a devoted wife, mother and homemaker in Crookston. In 1989 Doris was united in marriage to John Polley. They enjoyed many trips together visiting relatives, friends, and former students of Johns. Doris enjoyed and shared her skills of sewing, canning, crocheting, gardening and cooking amazing meals and playing cards. She was known for her famous pickles, her beautiful dish towels and afghans, her molasses cookies and fresh baked caramel rolls. Her greatest love and pride came from being with her children and grandchildren. Loving family members include her husband of 25 years, John; children, Bonnie Brule of Mentor, Wayne Brule of Crookston, Marlin (Stacy) Brule of Jordan, Randy (Tammy) Brule of Mentor, Lynette (Jeff) Haugen of Coon Rapids, and Laurie (Tim) Wavra of Crookston, son-in-laws; Chuck (Diana) Marshall of FL, John Stueber of Crookston; step sons, John (Karen) Polley of Grand Rapids, Mark (Pat) Polley of Winger; 29 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; Siblings, Cecilia Roth of WA, Alice Ann Normandin of Detroit Lakes, James (Marlene) Trudeau of St. Paul, Julian (Ann) Trudeau of Mentor, John (Vernae) Trudeau of OK, and Allan Trudeau of Gentilly; sister-in-law, Verna Trudeau of St. Paul, Lorraine Amoit and Dorothy Brule of Crookston, Dorine Trudeau of Red Lake Falls, Mary Lou Polley and Bonny Polley; many nieces, nephews and other cherished relatives.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents, Isaac and Margaret; brothers, Willard and Laurence; sister-in-law, Marge Polley Holmstrom, Diane Trudeau and Darlene Brule; brother-in-laws, Maurice Normandin, Andrew, Maurice and Robert Brule, Maurice Amiot, Emery Delorme, George Sauve, Wesley and Roger Polley; daughters, Linda (Brule) Marshall and Terrie (Brule) Stueber. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place 1pm Saturday, June 6 at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Crookston, with a visitation 5-7pm Friday, June 5 at Stenshoel-Houske Funeral home of Crookston with a prayer service beginning at 7 pm and resuming one hour prior to service. Interment will be at Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
