Doris Adeline Tuseth, age 85, a longtime Beltrami-Fertile, Minnesota resident, died at the Valley Eldercare Center in Grand Forks, ND on Thursday evening, January 22, 2015, with her loving family at her bedside. Doris was born on her parents farm, near Nielsville, MN, on November 17, 1929, one of eight children born to the union of Tom and Sena (Skretvedt) Waale. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Petri Lutheran Church in Nielsville and graduated from Climax (MN) High School in 1947. During her high school years Doris worked at several cafes, and did housekeeping and child-care for local families. She was later employed by the telephone office in Climax, working with her sister, Gladys. During the potato harvest she helped out on a few of the neighboring farms. In March of 1950 Doris was united in marriage to Charles Tuseth at Beltrami. The couple made their home on a nearby farm and were blessed with three children: Dianne, Calvin, and Dennis. Sadly, Charles died in a hunting accident in November of 1953. Doris and the kids moved into Beltrami, where she later married Kenneth Sannes in 1955. To their union four boys were born: David, Les, Ken Jr., and Ron. While raising the kids, and managing a busy household, Doris also found time to sell Avon products and greeting cards. She was a devoted member of Beltrami's Trinity Lutheran Church, taught Sunday school, sang with the choir, served as president of the Ladies Aid, and participated in the ladies circles. Doris was a great softball player, absolutely loved the game, and for many years played successfully on several Beltrami teams. In 1975 Doris was united in marriage to Horace Tuseth at Beltrami. She lovingly welcomed into her life Horace's four sons: Pat, Tim, Tony, and Perry. In 1980 Doris began working in the Beltrami Mall Café, where she served with a smile for over 20 years. Horace passed away in September of 1999. In 2011 Doris moved to an apartment in Fertile, and then on November 5, 2014 became a resident of Valley Eldercare in Grand Forks. Doris was a familiar figure at sporting events, concerts, and other school activities over the years. She provided support, encouragement, and cheers to her kids and grandkids, and loved keeping stats for all the games. She was an avid Minnesota Twins and Vikings fan, and could be counted on to share the progress of each game she was watching with whoever was around. Doris enjoyed making quilts for her family and the church, and a favorite pastime was singing and playing the piano. Family reunions were a highpoint in her social life and through them she was able to meet and host several of the 'cousins' from Norway. Several years ago she and her sister, Lorraine, made a trip to Norway visit them and tour the beautiful country. Doris was at the center of a large and very loving family. Nothing gave her greater pleasure than the time she spent with them all, and she will be remembered with great affection for being such a wonderful, nurturing mom, grandma, and great-grandma. Doris is survived by four children: Dianne (Wes) Brandt of Audubon, MN, Les (Janet) Sannes of Mentor, MN, Ken (Leanne) Sannes Jr. of Beltrami, MN, and Ron (Lori) Sannes of Fertile, MN; twelve grandchildren: Chad (Megan) Brandt, Shawn (Tanya) Brandt, Mandi (Mike) LaChapelle, Kelly (Virginia) Brandt, Carla Roy, Jennifer (Trent) Berg, Sarah Wall, Annika Sannes, Dillon Sannes, Nate (Abby) Sannes, Kent (Sarah), Sannes, and Taylor (Amber) Sannes; and many great-grandchildren. She also leaves four step-sons: Pat Tuseth of Rochester, MN, Tim Tuseth (Judy Davis) of Arkansas, Tony (Mickie) Tuseth of Stewartville, MN, and Perry (Kris) Tuseth of White Bear Lake, MN; together with several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Stella Gast of Ada, MN and Lorraine (Earl) Knutson of Glenwood, MN; a brother, Ole Waale of Thief River Falls, MN; two sisters-in-law, Alice Tuseth of Minneapolis, and Mary Tuseth of Crookston, MN; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family. In addition to her husbands, Charles and Horace, Doris was preceded in death by sons: Calvin, David, and Dennis; great-granddaughter, Josie LaChapelle; parents, Tom and Sena Waale; sisters: Alice Sistad, Ina Braaten, and Gladys Sistad; and brother, Hans Waale. May God bless the memory of Doris Adeline Tuseth.
