Edith Coauette

November 27, 1915 — August 14, 2016

Edith Marian Coauette, 100, of Crookston, MN, died early Sunday morning, August 14, 2016, at the Villa St. Vincent in Crookston. Edith was born on her parent's farm, near Wannaska, MN, on November 27, 1915. She was one of ten children born of the union of Luis and Minnie (Palm) Larson. She grew up on the farm and attended a nearby country school. On October 1, 1942 Edith was united in marriage to Lloyd C. Coauette at Las Vegas, NV. Together, the couple raised two sons, Rodger and Jimmie, on their Andover Township farm, near Crookston. They retired from farming in 1976 but continued to stay in their rural home. Lloyd passed away in August of 1993. In 2011 Edith moved to the Summerfield Apartments in Crookston, and in February of 2012 to the Summit Assisted Living Apartments. Two years later she became a resident of the Villa. Her caregivers adored her and knew they could expect a big, warm smile from her every morning, just as sure as the sun was going to rise in the east. Edith was a devoted member of the Cathedral parish, and St. Anne's before that. She also held membership in the Eagles Auxiliary and was a life member of the VFW Auxiliary. She loved her family dearly and found great joy in her lifelong roles as wife, mom, grandma and great-grandma. Edith leaves her two sons: Rodger Coauette of Fisher, MN and Jimmie and Shirley Coauette of Crookston, MN; five granddaughters: Kristin (Darin) Pearcy of Thief River Falls, MN, Kelsie (Chris) Knecht of Hillsboro, ND, Kimberly (Justin) Cook of Carrington, ND, Stacey (Michael) Smith of Jamestown, ND and Brittany (Ryan) Moen of Bloomington, MN; ten great-grandchildren: Ethan and Kate Johnson, Lloyd and Leah Knecht, Mya, Mason, and Lydia Cook, and Haden, Peyton, and Owen Smith; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives. In addition to Lloyd, her beloved husband of fifty years, Edith was preceded in death by her parents, Luis and Minnie Larson. As the last surviving member of her generation in both the Larson and Coauette families, she was also preceded in death by her siblings: Andrew, Anna Strandberg, Ingval, Ole, Elmer, Elvin, Lawrence, Eleanor Holweger, and Ruby Wicklander. May God richly bless Edith's memory. The Mass of Christian Burial for Edith Coauette will be celebrated at 1:30pm, Thursday, August 18, 2016, at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Crookston, with The Rev. Vincent Miller, presiding. Visitation will be at the church from 11:30am until the time of the service. Interment will follow in the Calvary Cemetery, Crookston. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be given in Edith's name to the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. www.stenshoelhouske.com
