Emma LaCoursiere

Emma LaCoursiere, 94, of Crookston, MN, died peacefully at her home Tuesday afternoon, March 3, 2015, under the care of Altru Hospice and with her family at her side. Emma was born in Gervais Township, near Red Lake Falls, MN, on January 20, 1921, the daughter of Bert and Mamie (Desotell) Dondoneau. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Terrebonne, MN and attended Wildwood country school through the 8th grade. Emma was united in marriage to Omer LaCoursiere on June 23, 1941 at St. Anthony Church. The couple farmed in Gervais Township until retiring in 1964 and moving into Red Lake Falls. Omer passed away on November 19, 1991. They had been married for 50 years. Emma remained in Red Lake Falls until 2001 when she moved to Crookston to be with her daughters. She enjoyed gardening, quilting, crocheting Barbie Doll clothes, baking, and being a homemaker. Her pets held a special place in her heart throughout her life. Emma was a member of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception parish, the Cathedral Guild, St. Anne's Society, and Eagles Aerie Auxiliary 873. Emma is survived by her daughters, Ruby and Gladys LaCoursiere of Crookston, MN; a sister-in-law, Theresa LaCoursiere of Red Lake Falls, MN; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her husband, Omer, and her parents, Bert and Mamie, and as the last surviving member of her family by her 4 siblings: Alice (Edwin) LaFave, Cora (George) Reopelle, Leah (Louis) Perra, and Steve (Elizabeth) Dondoneau. Mass of Christian Burial for Emma LaCoursiere will be held at 2:00 pm, Monday, March 9, 2015, at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Crookston with The Rev. Vincent Miller, presiding. Visitation will be at the church on Monday from Noon until the time of the funeral. Interment will be in the Calvary Cemetery, Crookston.
