Etta Borkenhagen

Etta Borkenhagen, 84, of Crookston, formerly of Argyle, died Monday, May 18, 2015, at Villa St. Vincent. Etta Mary Jane Nelson was born on August 7, 1930, in Argyle, Minnesota, the daughter of Olaf and Elsa (Mattson) Nelson. She attended school in Argyle, graduating from Argyle High School on May 27, 1948. Etta furthered her education by attending Bethesda School of Nursing and received her LPN license. She went on to work for Bethesda, and later Riverview Hospital. In January of 1950, Etta married William H. Thompson, and they were blessed with two children. On June 3, 1968, Etta married Darrell Richard Borkenhagen in Crookston. Etta enjoyed gardening, knitting, crocheting and sewing. Etta is survived by her two children, Eugene Thompson of Crookston and Debra Myatt of Illinois; two grandsons, Nathan and Bryan Hoffman; and two great-grandchildren, Jennifer and Nash Hoffman. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Darrell; her siblings; and a grandson, Andrew Hoffman. Funeral Services for Etta will be held at 1:00 PM Wednesday, May 27, 2015, at Stenshoel-Houske Funeral Home, Crookston, with visitation from 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM, with the Rev. Tim Bhajjan officiating.
