Gladys Worman

Gladys E. Worman passed away peacefully on October 2, 2015 at the age of 94 while residing at Birchwood Senior Care Center in Forest Lake, MN. Her lively spirit and generous heart will be greatly missed by family and friends. Gladys was born April 7th, 1921 near Crookston, MN to Anna and Clarence Worman. She attended Northwest School in Crookston and then teacher's training in East Grand Forks. Gladys taught in several local schools before obtaining her bachelor's degree at Moorhead State and moving to California to teach elementary education. She taught in San Diego schools until retirement, but also traveled extensively. During 1956-1957 she had a teaching opportunity in Germany and traveled to 21 countries during her summer and school vacations days. Gladys loved teaching and was still in contact with some of her former students. While in San Diego, Gladys always drove to Crookston for the summers to spend time with her family and friends. She saw much of the United States as she also drove from Crookston to Tennessee and Florida to visit her brother and sister. Gladys loved to explore new places and see as many things as she could, so her driving included many side trips. After retirement, she spent time in Crookston, Tennessee and San Diego and included a few more road trips to places like the East Coast! Gladys was called upon many times as family caregiver, which she did with great willingness and love. Her family has been truly blessed All who knew her appreciated her wonderful and genuine smile. Gladys Worman is preceded in death by her parents Anna and Clarence Worman, two sisters Dorothy Schenkey and Esther Hall, a brother Edward Worman and one niece Helen Fant. She is survived by niece Pamela Clark, nephew Dean Schenkey; great nieces and nephews Jessie Duffy, Lauren Fant, Terry Schenkey, Gary Clark and James Fant; 1 great-great nephew and 4 great-great nieces. Memorial services will be held at the Wesley United Methodist Church in Crookston MN at 2:00 pm on Thursday, October 15, 2015.
