Greg Schreck

Greg S. Schreck, age 60, Gentilly, formerly Euclid, died Friday, January 3, 2014, with his loving wife and sister at his side. Greg was born on March 7, 1953 in Minneapolis, MN, son of Paul and Penelope (Erickson) Schreck. He grew up in Coon Rapids and Blaine and graduated from the Coon Rapids Senior High School in 1972. He enlisted in the US Army and served from 1972 until 1979, working with small arms repair. Following discharge from the Army, he returned to Minneapolis and then to Champlin. He attended Anoka Votech and graduated from their mechanic's program. He owned and operated at resort on Lake of the Woods for a few years, before selling the resort and moving to Isanti, MN. Fourteen years ago, he moved to Crookston, where he lived for a short time before finding a small acreage near Euclid, where he could raise chickens and Scottish Highland cattle. Over the years, he had worked as a mechanic, repairing pumps at service stations and had also worked at a gun club, repairing guns. Greg enjoyed hunting, was a fanatic about fishing (especially on his favorite lake, Cass Lake) and loved to be outdoors all summer long. During deer season, he also was known for his skill at meat processing. Survivors include: his wife: Cheryl; his mother: Penelope Schreck of Cambridge, MN; sister: Christy Woster of Cambridge, MN; two brothers: Peter (Claudia) Schreck of Isanti, MN and Karl (Christine) Schreck of Shafer, MN; step-children: Jody (Nathan) Morlan of Grand Rapids, MN, Stephanie Strom of Denver, CO, and Alanna Strom of Crookston, MN; and nine grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father: Paul Schreck; brother-in-law: David Woster and step-son: Nevin Strom. A Gathering Time in Greg's Memory will be held from 1 to 3 PM, Saturday, February 8th at the Crookston American Legion. Stenshoel-Houske is assisting with arrangements.
