James Delage

James Harvey Delage "Frog", 80, of Gentilly, MN, died Friday, December 16, 2011 at Riverview Hospital in Crookston, MN surrounded by his loving wife and family. Jim was born December 31, 1930 in Red Lake Falls, MN to Leo & Alice (Moquin) Delage. He grew up on a farm in Gentilly Township. Jim joined the United States Army and was active from 1952-1954, where he served in Korea. Upon return from Korea in 1954, Jim met his bride Jan Desautel, they were married on September 14, 1957 at the Cathedral of Immaculate Conception in Crookston, MN. He and Jan made their home in Crookston until moving to Gentilly in 1969. Jim and Jan were blessed with two children; Glenn (Rachel) Delage, and Joel Delage, both of Crookston, Minnesota. Jim was a hard working man. His first job after the service was with American Crystal sugar. After, he was self-employed, doing various jobs such as hauling gravel, driving semi hauling grain, and running heavy equipment. His last job was working for Boll Farms. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Jan; two sons, Glenn (Rachel) Delage, and Joel Delage; grandsons Bryce, Brett, and Brandt Delage; and six godchildren. Jim is also survived by his sister, Elaine (Alton) Lilga of Apple Valley, MN. He is preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Alice Delage; a brother, Clarence Delage; and two nephews, Kevin and David Delage. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 21, 2011, in Saint Peter's Catholic Church in Gentilly, MN. Visitation will be in the Stenshoel-Houske Funeral Home on Tuesday December 20, 2011 from 5-7:00 p.m., with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service, and also at the church for one hour before the funeral. Military Honors will be provided by the Crookston Veterans Council . Interment will be in Saint Peter's Cemetery in Gentilly, MN. Stenshoel-Houske Funeral Home of Crookston is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
