PLEASE NOTE THAT THE VISITATION AND FUNERAL SERVICE FOR JAMES HAVE BEEN RESCHEDULED DUE TO WEATHER AND FAMILY TRAVEL CONSIDERATIONS. James William Halstenson, 5 day old son of Benjamin Greenlee and Lacie Mae (Stroot) Halstenson of Crookston, went to be an Angel in Heaven, on Monday, November 28, 2016. Sweet Baby James, as he was lovingly known to his Mom and Dad, was born on Wednesday, November 23rd, together with his twin brother, Jack Gordon, at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks. Jack Gordon was born first, and shortly thereafter complications with James William's delivery required an emergency c-section. He was challenged with Hypoxic Ischemic Encephalopathy (HIE) and after extensive evaluation by the Altru NICU team it was determined he would need the specialized care offered by the Children's Hospital in Minneapolis. He was rushed there Thursday morning, and despite the valiant efforts of the Doctors and Nurses at Children's, and the love and prayers of his Mom and Dad and many other family members gathered, he passed away at 1:40 p.m. the following Monday, and is now his family's forever Angel. Sweet Baby James will be forever loved and cherished by Lacie and Ben, and his twin, Jack Gordon, who in time will come to know his brother through the heartfelt memories of his Mom and Dad. He also leaves grandparents, Rich and Nancy Halstenson, and Betty Stroot, all of Crookston; great-grandmother, Wanda Stroot of Crookston; his aunt and uncle, Nicole and Shane Heldstab of Crookston, who are also his Godparents; and many great-aunts, great-uncles, cousins, and extended family. In heaven he is meeting his grandfather, Robert Dubuque; and great-grandparents: Gordon and Ethel Halstenson, Robert and Patricia Carson, and Bill Stroot. Blessed be the memory of Sweet Baby James. The all too short life of James William Halstenson will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 9, 2016, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Crookston, with The Rev. Greg Isaacson, officiating. Visitation will be at the Stenshoel-Houske Funeral Home in Crookston on Thursday from 5-7:00 p.m., with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service, and also at the church for one hour prior to the funeral service. Interment will be at the Oakdale Cemetery in Crookston. www.stenshoelhouske.com
