Jean Strickler

May 27, 1921 — December 6, 2013

Jean Strickler, 92, of Euclid, MN. passed away on December 6th, at the Villa St. Vincent in Crookston, MN. Jean Louise Tiedemann was born on May 27, 1921, near Euclid, MN, the daughter of Emil and Marie (Schuler) Tiedemann. She attended country school near Euclid and graduated from Crookston High School. On September 25, 1939, she married William Strickler. They made their home in Angus Township where they raised two children. Jean dedicated her life to her family as a homemaker and lovingly supported William in all phases of farming. Jean also had great pride in the Black Angus cattle that William, her children and grandchildren raised and showed throughout Minnesota and North Dakota. William died July 24th, 2003.

She was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Euclid. She taught Sunday School and was a 4-H Leader. She was a member of the Sew and So Homemakers Club and Farm Bureau. She especially took pride in her garden and yard. In her younger years, she and William enjoyed square dancing and playing cards with friends.

Jean was a beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She spent her life caring for others. She was an excellent cook and baker, specializing in apple pies, birthday cakes and homemade buns. The grandchildren especially loved 7-Up floats at grandma's house. Jean also enjoyed knitting, crocheting and quilting, sharing her handcrafted items as gifts. For many years, she spent special time on the school bleachers, cheering on her grandchildren during their sporting events.

Grateful to have shared in Jean's life are her daughter and son in law, Marilyn and Stan Sirek, Wahpeton, ND, and son and daughter in law, Don and Ellen Strickler, Euclid, MN; eight grandchildren, Joel and Tami Sirek, Jason Sirek all of Wahpeton, Deanna Pederson of Bloomington, IL, Brent Strickler, Kaydi and Brad Grunhovd all of Euclid, Kari and Chris Kujava, Ada, MN, Kristen and Steve Kehr, Coon Rapids, MN, Becky and Selmer Moen, Minnetrista, MN. 10 great grandchildren: Parker and Brooklyn Sirek, Payton and Taylor Kujava, Hayden and Olivia Strickler, Ava and Grace Kehr, Harrison and Josie Moen, sister in law, Dorothy Tiedemann, Euclid, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband William, brothers, Donald (Doris) Tiedemann, Robert Tiedemann and sister, Vera (Paul) Schreder. Jean's funeral service will be at 11 AM, Friday, December 13, 2013 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Crookston, with Pastor Steve Bohler, officiating. Visitation will be at the Stenshoel-Houske Funeral Home, Thursday, December 12, 2013 from 5 to 7 PM, with a prayer service at 7PM, also visitation for one hour before the service at the church on Friday. Interment will be at Oakdale Cemetery, Crookston. May God bless the memory of Jean Louise Strickler.
