Jesus Ibarra

April 18, 1938 — November 18, 2016

Jesus Ibarra, 78, of Crookston, MN, died at his home peacefully early Friday morning, November 18, 2016, while surrounded by his loving wife, Rosa, and family. Jesus was born at San Carlos, Coahuila, Mexico on April 18, 1938 to Perdo Ibarra and Maria Antonia Davila Ibarra. On December 10, 1961 he was united in marriage to Rosa Elia De La Cerda at Eagle Pass, TX. Over the years their marriage was blessed by the births of 11 children. In 1986 the family moved from Eagle Pass to Crookston, where they made their home to the present time. Jesus began working at Hugo's Garden at Halstad, MN in 1986, and had been a loyal and valued employee there until his retirement due to ill-health this past summer. His kids all said "Dad would have worked until he was 100 if it weren't for the darn cancer." Jesus will be remembered as a hard worker, who liked to go fishing, work in his own garden at home, and cut the grass. He always wanted things to be neat and clean and he kept everything just that way. He was a very loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who will be very sadly missed. Treasured memories of him remain in their hearts forever. Jesus is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Rosa; their 11 children: Robert (Kathy) Ibarra of Crookston, MN, Martha E. (Martin) Esquivel of Port Arthur, TX, Rodolfo (Rosa M.) Ibarra of Crookston, Marivel (Juan Jose) Martinez of Eagle Pass, TX, Esmeralda (Alfredo) Magdaleno of Crookston, Jesus (Teresa) Ibarra Jr. of Worthington, MN, Rosa A. (Antonio) Garza III of Crookston, Griselda (Daniel) Gonzales of Crookston, Lorena (Daniel) Silva of Beach Park, IL, Sonia Herrera of Crookston, and Natalie Ibarra of Crookston; 48 grandchildren; and over 30 great-grandchildren. He also leaves 4 siblings: Teodor, Hector, Jose, and Hermen Ibarra, all of Eagle Pass; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Maria Antonia and Perdo; granddaughter, Luisana Ibarra; grandson, Jose Juan Martinez; sister, Julia Ibarra; and brother, Perdo Ibarra Jr. May God bless the memory of Jesus Ibarra. Mass of Christian Burial for Jesus Ibarra will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 22, 2016, at the Stenshoel-Houske Funeral Home, Crookston, with The Rev. Augie Gothman, presiding. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Monday from 5-7:00 p.m., with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service, and also on Tuesday for one hour prior to the Mass.
