Jordyce Waxler

January 8, 1926 — August 8, 2016

Jordyce Yvonne Waxler, 90, of Crookston, MN, died Monday evening, August 8, 2016, at the Villa St. Vincent in Crookston. Jordyce was born at Hunter, ND on January 8, 1926, the daughter of Carl and Annie Skue. She grew up at Hunter and during her high school years was employed at the local Gamble's Store where she continued working after her graduation from Hunter High School in 1944. On May 21, 1947 Jordyce was united in marriage to James Edward Waxler at Hunter. Over the years their marriage was blessed by the births of four children: Bruce, Kathy, Brian, and Brent. Very sadly, Brent passed away on October 13, 2007. From 1951 to 1953 Jordyce and Jim made their home in Harwood, ND before moving to Fargo. In 1959 they came to Crookston where they continued to raise their family. Jordyce began working for St. Francis Hospital as a ward clerk in 1968, and from 1970 until her retirement in 1987 was a ward clerk and scheduling secretary at Riverview Hospital, today known as RiverView Health. Jordyce and Jim were longtime members of Trinity Lutheran Church. In 1997 they were honored as Crookston's Experienced Americans. The couple enjoyed many warm and wonderful friendships, and were saddened as the years went by and those friends began to pass. Time spent with their family was a treasure; sharing in their many accomplishments an absolute joy; and rewarding them with her famous scotcharoos was "really special." May God bless Jordyce's memory. Cherished family members include Jordyce's beloved husband of 69 years, Jim; their children and spouses: Bruce and Mary Jo Waxler of Bartlett, IL, Kathy and Mike Spence of Golden Valley, MN, Brian and Denise Waxler of Crookston, MN, and daughter-in-law, Nadine Waxler of Champlin, MN; 10 grandchildren: Brad (Amy) Waxler, Matt (Rebecca) Waxler, Jamie (Alan) Dean, Jeff Dorman, Angie (Nate) Griffin, Heath Waxler, Ben Waxler, Annie Mae (Tim) Strader, Suzanne (Drew) Hasian, and Erich Waxler; 11 great-grandchildren: Mya, Layla, Danika and Levon Strader, Madigan Waxler, Lexie and Lily Waxler, Aubrey Hasian, Adelyn Griffin, and Maddox and Tully Dean; a sister-in-law, Alice (Chuck) Bowman; brother-in-law, Kenny Waxler; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition to her son, Brent, Jordyce was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Livia Waxler; her parents, Carl and Annie Skue; and her siblings and their spouses: Glenn and Gladys Juno, Dick and Cornelia Fatland, Craig and Louise Worsley, Frances Skue, Chris and Dorothy Jensen, and Gordon and Helen Skue. The memorial service for Jordyce Yvonne Waxler will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, August 13, 2016, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Crookston, MN with The Rev. Greg Isaacson, officiating. Visitation with the family will be at the Stenshoel-Houske Funeral Home on Friday from 5-7:00pm, with a 7:00pm prayer service, and also at the church for an hour before the funeral. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be given in Jordyce's memory to the organization of the giver's choice. www.stenshoelhouske.com
