June Mosher

May 25, 1923 — February 28, 2018

June L. Mosher, 94, a longtime Crookston, MN resident, passed away peacefully with her loving family at her side, Wednesday evening, February 28, 2018, in the Fair Meadow Nursing Home in Fertile, MN. June became a resident of Fair Meadow in December of 2015.

June LouBelle was born on May 25, 1923 to Adolph and Alma (Lindberg) Ogaard on their farm in Russia Township, near Beltrami, MN. She grew up on the farm, was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. June later moved to Crookston to live with her aunt, Etta Ogaard, until her graduation from Crookston Central High School in 1940. On October 6, 1941 she was united in marriage to Eugene L. “Earl” Mosher at Dakota City, NB. June and Earl made their home on the rural Beltrami farm of Earl’s brother, Daniel “Doc” Mosher, eventually purchasing the farm in 1947. Together, they raised three children, Harlan, Gary, and Connie. Earl farmed until 1963, when their son, Harlan “Red”, took over the farming operation. June and Earl then moved to Crookston where she worked for JC Penney’s and the Sunnyrest Sanitarium, while Earl was employed as a Polk County Deputy Sheriff. June later became the cook for the jail. In 1974, Earl was elected Polk County Sheriff and June became a Special Deputy, assisting with the transfer of women prisoners being taken to other facilities for incarceration. She was also an insurance agent, a career she greatly enjoyed while serving her clients in the Crookston area for many years. In retirement June and Earl enjoyed spending time together, and being with their kids and grandkids; watching them all grow and expand the family to include great and great-great grandchildren. Very sadly, their daughter, Connie Larson of Fertile, and wife of Jerome, passed away on April 16, 2000 after a lengthy illness. A few years later, June and the family would again experience profound loss with the death of Earl on October 1, 2006.

June was a devoted member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and WELCA, and for many years served as an organizer of the work and serve group for funerals. She also held longtime memberships in the Auxiliaries of American Legion Unit 20 and Eagles Aerie 873, and had served both organizations as President. Over the years she hosted many a pizza party while holding meetings for her insurance clients, and had a wonderful time doing it. Despite all these activities she still found time to deliver Meals on Wheels for several years with her brother, Duane Ogaard. She was extremely happy to witness the creation of the dog park in Crookston a few years ago, and the bit of financial support she was able to provide to it. June was a humble lady who never had a bad word to say about anyone. She loved her family dearly, and enjoyed spending quiet time in her flower gardens, giving thanks to her Lord for a life well lived.

Loving family members include her sons and daughters-in-law, Harlan “Red” and Jan Mosher of Beltrami, MN, and Gary and Donna Mosher of East Grand Forks, MN; son-in-law, Jerome Larson of Fertile, MN; 9 grandchildren: Guy Mosher, Chad (Donna) Mosher, and Tyler (Melissa) Mosher, all of Fertile, Rod (Linda) Mosher of Gresham, OR, Rich (Rhonda) Mosher of East Grand Forks, Ryan (Carol) Mosher of Grand Forks, ND, Tim (Kim) Larson of Fertile, Julie (Brant) Skanson of Reno, NV, and Melissa (Brandon) Stewart of Hawley, MN; 27 great-grandchildren; and 6 great-great grandchildren. June also leaves a brother and sister-in-law, Duane and Eleanor Ogaard of Crookston, MN; 2 sisters, Alice Delisle of Grand Forks, and Barbara Parson  of CA; and many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. In addition to Earl, her beloved husband of sixty-four years, and their daughter, Connie Larson, June was preceded in death by her parents, Adolph and Alma Ogaard; 3 brothers, Arland, Curtis, and infant, Sheldon; 2 sisters, Shirley Thoreson and infant, Carol; her parents-in-law, Bert and Elizabeth Mosher; and many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, and other family members. June’s memory will be forever treasured by all who were a part of her life.
