Kathleen Mae Boucher, 86, formerly of Crookston and East Grand Forks, passed away at the Pioneer Memorial Care Center in Erskine, MN early Tuesday morning, August 23, 2022. Mae, as she was best known throughout her life, had been a resident of Pioneer since June 30, 2021.
Mae was born in Salida, CO on April 16, 1936, the daughter of Joseph and Frances Kochman. She was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith and educated in Salida parochial schools where she graduated from high school. On June 10, 1960, Mae was united in marriage to Ronald M. Boucher in Salida. In 1963 she, Ron, and their children, Karen, Daniel “Bud”, and Sherri moved to Crookston, MN. Son, Mark, was born in Crookston soon after their move. At various times during her working career Mae was employed with American Crystal, and retail stores, Ben Franklin, and J C Penney. Sadly, at age 61, Ron passed away all too soon on December 10, 1994, after a lengthy illness.
Mae continued to make her home in Crookston and devoted herself to volunteering her time and talents at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception and the University of Minnesota-Crookston. During this time she went on to proudly earn an Associate Degree from the college. Her favorite pastimes included crafting and crocheting, and she made many ‘snowman hats’ and sweaters for family and friends. She was a devoted member of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception parish, Member of the RedHatters and also held a longtime membership in the Crookston Eagles Auxiliary. Several years ago she moved to East Grand Forks to be closer to her daughter, Sherri.
Mae is survived by her 4 children: Sherri Erickson of East Grand Forks, MN and her daughter, Alicia (Casey) Mack and their son, Collin, and son, Nicholas Erickson of Lewisville, TX; Karen (Mike) Raymond of Crookston, MN and their sons, Michael (Misty), and their daughter, Haleigh, and Eric, and his children: Jace, Korbin and Aaden; son, Daniel “Bud” Vance of Crookston; son, Mark Boucher of Vista, CA; and other relatives. In addition to Ron, Mae’s beloved husband of 34 years, she was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Frances Kochman; and all of her siblings.
A memorial service in celebration of Mae’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 9, 2022, at the Stenshoel-Houske Funeral Home in Crookston with Fr. David Baumgartner, officiating.
