Kenneth G. Eggebraaten, “Kenny”, 79, of Fisher, MN, passed away peacefully at his home early Tuesday morning, February 13, 2018. While a lung disease may have taken his breath, it could not stifle Kenny’s humor and optimistic view of the world around him.
Kenny was born on December 15, 1938 in Grand Forks, ND. He grew up on a farm near Fisher. He was the 11th of 13 children of Arthur and Helga (Andreson) Eggebraaten. Kenny began his education in the Fisher Public Schools and spent part of his high school years attending the Northwest School of Agriculture in Crookston before graduating with the Class of 1956 at Fisher High School.
After graduation, Kenny enlisted in the Army National Guard and served until his honorable discharge in 1965. In 1957 he attended the Northwest Telegraph School in Minneapolis and that same year began working for the railroad. On March 12, 1960 Kenny was united in marriage to Patricia Jean Halos at the Wesley United Methodist Church in Crookston. Kenny and Pat made their home in Fisher where they raised their four children: Wendy, Kristen, Stacey, and Tim. Kenny proudly served the railroad as a Communications Agent until his retirement in 1997. For many years in retirement, Kenny loved working for area farmers doing a variety of jobs. His lighthearted approach made him very easy to work with.
Throughout his life, Kenny lived a life of service to others. He served the citizens of Fisher as a City Council member, Water Commissioner and volunteer fire fighter. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and attending their events. Kenny had an adventurous spirit and was giddy while traveling, taking many trips with his family through the years. Music was a lifelong passion of his and he spent hours listening to his favorite songs and became a huge fan of YouTube!
