Laura B. Murphy, 92 of Crookston, and formerly of Alexandria, Virginia, died peacefully in her sleep on Monday, August 20, 2018, at RiverView Care Center in Crookston. Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 25 at 10:30 am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Grand Forks, ND. Graveside services will take place in Mount Comfort Cemetery in Alexandria, Virginia at a later date.
Laura B. Giebel was born to Albert and Pearl (Lambkin) Giebel on November 4, 1925 in Monroe, Michigan. She grew up there with her four sisters and three brothers. Following high school, Laura was a homemaker and retired from her many years of working with computers for Civil Defense at the Pentagon in Arlington Virginia. She was a loving mother and homemaker, and will be remembered for her remarkable cooking, and her sewing and knitting.
Laura is survived by her three children, son, Ken Myers, Crookston, Minnesota; daughters, Cindy Owens, Hampstead, North Carolina; and Kathy Murphy-Marshall, Alexandria, Virginia; grandchildren, Ciara Mills, Chanel Myers, Tiffany Myers, Matthew Owens, David Murphy, April Amos, Justina Franchi, and Dillon Marshall.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her siblings.
