Lauverne Albert "Vern" Cormican, 92, of Euclid, MN, passed away Sunday afternoon, April 1, 2012, at the Villa St. Vincent Nursing Home in Crookston, MN. Vern was born on October 4, 1919 in Stephen, MN, to John and Josephine Cormican. He lived in Warren, MN, where he attended school. He later received engineering training from the Caterpillar Company in Peoria, IL. Vern met Lillian Teal and the two were united in marriage on December 11, 1939 in Warren. Sadly, Lillian passed away in 1964. Vern was employed by the Marshall County Highway Department until his enlistment in the United States Navy in January of 1945. He served his country proudly until his honorable discharge in November of 1945. He then moved to Euclid and worked for a short time as a truck driver for Rudy Smith in Warren. He was later employed by the Polk County Highway Department, receiving awards and recognition for his service with the department until his retirement in 1982. In 1973, Vern married Alice Konickson in Plummer, MN. She passed away in 2003.

Vern was a longtime member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Euclid, MN. He was also an active member of the Thief River Falls VFW and American Legion Posts. He enjoyed watching his children participate in snowmobile races and was a one-time participant in the Winnipeg 500. May God richly bless Vern's memory. Vern will be sadly missed by his special friend; Delores Schulz of Euclid, MN; four children, Leroy (Kathy) Cormican of Battle Ground, WA, Marilyne Cormican and Dale (Sandy) Cormican of Mentor, MN; and Della (Ralph) Montreuil of Euclid, MN; grandchildren: Lilanne (Brian) Pierson, John (Lisa) Cormican, and Leroy D. (Kierstan) Cormican all of Battle Ground, WA, Randy Goosen of Fisher, MN, Kim (Lynette) Goosen of Crookston, Corrie (Shawn) Goodyke of Euclid, Tammy (Randy) Brule of Mentor, Brent (Patty) Goosen of Orofino, ID, Sheila Steffen of St. Cloud, MN, Charles (Kristin) Steffen of Bemidji, MN, Shawn (Lisa) Cormican and Brandon Cormican, of Crookston, and Lisa (Kim) Matheny of Fargo, ND. Also missing Vern are twenty-seven great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Bonnie Cormican of Grand Forks, ND; and a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bob (Dorothy) Teal of Wadena, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Josephine Cormican; his wives, Lillian Cormican and Alice Cormican; an infant grandson, Lance Cormican; a step-granddaughter, Lisa Weiland; and siblings Sammy (Ann) Cormican, Eddie (Grace) Cormican, Delbert Cormican, EvaMae (Ralph) Anderson, and Tiny (Don) Rahier.
