Leona Holzer

Leona E. (Silbernagel) Holzer, 47, of Crookston, MN passed away June 3, 2015 peacefully at home surrounded by family after a long battle with cancer. Leona was born November 17, 1967 in Perham, Minnesota the daughter of Stanley and Marcella (Sazama) Silbernagel. She was baptized and confirmed at Sacred Heart Church in Dent, Minnesota where she grew up and attended school through the 7th grade. She graduated from the Perham High School in 1986. Leaona married Steve Holzer in October of 1989. Their son, Jeremy was born May 29, 1990 and daughter, Taylor on May 3, 1994 while living in Fargo, ND. Their jobs took them to Fertile, Minnesota. She worked at Agsco in 2008 when she met her fiancé, Keith Mireault and his son Matt. She moved to Crookston where they bought a townhouse together. Her job took her to CHS Ag Service. Her favorite part of that job was feeding and taking care of the staff. Her most loved job was Upper Case Living. She loved all the people she met and all the places she got to go. So many wonderful memories. Leona's favorite things were spending time with her grandson, Knox and traveling. Leona is survived by her mother, Marcella Silbernagel of Perham, MN; her fiance, Keith Mireault of Crookston, MN; a son, Jeremy (Jessica Kasbetski) Holzer of Phoenix, AZ, daughter, Taylor (Kirk Spilde) Holzer of Moorhead, MN; step-son, Matt Mireault of Grand Forks, ND; grandson, Knox Holzer; two brothers, Francis (Julie) Silbernagel, Wayne (Julie) Silbernagel; six sisters, Lora (Steve) Anderson, Lois Erickson, Linda (Chris) Niemeyer, Lisa (Steve) Sheets, Lucy (Willy) Gadacz and Lidia (Robert) Atkinson. She is also survived by her intended in-laws, Gerald and Joan Mireault, Karen (Paul) Biermaier and many nieces and nephews.

Leona was preceded in death by her father, Stanley Silbernagel; nephews Nicholas Silbernagel and Justin Gadacz. A Visitation will be 5pm – 7pm Tuesday June 9, at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Crookston MN. Mass of Christian Burial will be 2:00pm, Wednesday June 10, at The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial is at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Dent, MN.
