Leslie Sheridan

January 8, 1928 — November 11, 2021

Leslie Duane Sheridan, age 93, and a resident of the Benedictine Living Community of Crookston, MN, passed from this life and went to be with his Savior the evening of November 11, 2021, with his loving family by his side.

Leslie was born on January 8, 1928 to Charles Lambert and Olga Josephine (Swenson) Sheridan in Nielsville, MN, where he lived most of his young life. He began his education at the Sunnybrook School before attending high school at the Northwest School of Agriculture in Crookston. On January 8, 1946, his 18th birthday, Leslie entered the US Navy and served aboard the USS Shangri-La. Following his honorable discharge in December of 1947 he returned to the farm. In 1949 he met Virginia Helen Shipstead, who would become his beloved wife on February 2, 1950. Ten months later they had their first child, Sharon Marie. After another five years son, Duaine Allen, was born, and finally after another five years their youngest, Linda JoAnn, was born. During their 69 years of marriage Virginia and Leslie lived in several places, especially during those first few years. In 1958 they moved to Fertile where they farmed and together raised their children in a loving Christian home. In 1973 the family moved to Monticello, MN, where Leslie did carpenter construction work and owned a trucking business, while Virginia delighted in working at the Barsness Drugstore. In 2010 the couple moved back to the Crookston/Fertile area to be closer to family. Three years later Virginia was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and entered the Fair Meadow Nursing Home in Fertile. In 2015 she became a resident of the River View Care Center in Crookston, making it much easier for Leslie to spend time with her. Virginia went to be with her Lord and Savior on February 5, 2019 and just a few weeks later on March 23, 2019 their son, Duaine Allen, passed away unexpectedly

Leslie leaves his two daughters, Sharon M. (Bushaw) Johnson of Crookston, MN and Linda Lopez of Wendell, MN; two grandchildren, Joseph (Tara) Bushaw III of Crookston and Luis Lopez III of California; and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Virginia; son, Duaine; granddaughter, Trisha Lopez; parents, Charles and Olga; and siblings: Blanche Einerson, Bernice Howland, Doris (Braaten) Christopherson, Charles (Bud), Glenn and Donald. Leslie was greatly loved and will be very much missed.
