Linda M. Mjoen, age 64, Crookston, died Tuesday, February 11, 2014 at her home in Crookston, with her family at her side. Linda Marie Winters was born on August 31, 1949 at Sauk Centre, MN, daughter of Cyril James and Jeanette Gladys (Muske) Winters. She grew up and was educated at Regal, MN, attending country school there and graduating from Paynesville High School. She had worked as an aide at the Paynesville Hospital. She attended Alexandria Nursing School and began working as an LPN. She worked at Mount Sinai Hospital in Minneapolis, before moving to Crookston. In Crookston, she worked at Altru Clinic and later at Villa St. Vincent. Linda was united in marriage with Scott Gordon Mjoen on September 26, 1998 at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Crookston. Linda loved people and enjoyed going into a club for a cocktail and pull a few tabs. She loved her family, camping, outdoors and spending time with friends. She was the "biggest" fan of the Vikings and was very loyal, win or lose. Bandit her puppy, was her baby. Her nieces and nephews were very important to her; they were her "kids". She loaded them up in her car and brought them back with her to Crookston to spend a week. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, serving as Chaplain, the VFW Auxiliary, the Eagles Auxiliary and the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. Linda is survived by her husband: Scott of Crookston; three sisters and two brothers: Karon (Mark) Cunningham of St. Augusta, Kathy (Bruce) Younkin of Paynesville, Carla (Scott) Kannenberg of Spicer, Randy Winters of Crookston, and Daryl (Lisa) Winters of St. Cloud; a brother-in-law: Bruce (Marlys) Mjoen of Crookston; a sister-in-law: Barb (Howard) Reitmeier of Lewiston, ID; her dog: Bandit; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents: Cyril and Jeanette Winters; a nephew: Adam Winters; and in-laws: Gordon and Betty Mjoen. Linda's funeral mass will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, February 17, 2014 at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Crookston, with the Rev. Vincent Miller, officiating. Visitation will be at the Stenshoel-Houske Funeral Home, Crookston from 5 to 7 PM, Sunday, February 16, 2014 with a prayer service at 7 PM, and also at the church for one hour prior to the service on Monday. Stenshoel-Houske is assisting with arrangements.
