Lorraine Josephine Lerum, 87, of Redfield, SD, died Friday, December 18, 2015, at Community Memorial Hospital, Redfield. Her memorial service will be 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at the Eastern Star Home Chapel in Redfield. Reverend Brian Wasmoen will officiate. There will also be a memorial service in Crookston, MN on Monday, December 28, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at Stenshoel-Houske Funeral Home. She will be buried alongside her husband in the Oakdale Cemetery in Crookston. www.thelenfuneralhome.com Lorraine Casavan was born on March 9, 1928 at Crookston, MN, daughter of Delvina (Carpenter) and Odelon Casavan. She was raised, together with brother Lester and sisters LaVerne and Marcella, in rural Dorothy, MN, attending country school. Her family moved to California where she attended and graduated from high school.
Lorraine and Robert Lerum were married on Catalina Island, CA on July 12, 1952. They had two daughters, LeAnn and Lori. Bob died on February 16, 1968. Lorraine began to work for the phone company while living in California and continued in Crookston for a total of 13 years. After Bob's death, she continued to live in the Crookston area for most of her life, working for Miller's Fairway, The Dental Clinic, and Erickson Electric. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the American Legion Auxiliary. She served as a volunteer for hospice, the North Country Food Bank, Inc., Golden Link Senior Citizens, The Villa and Trinity Lutheran Church. In the spring of 2014, Lorraine moved to Redfield, SD where she joined Our Savior's Lutheran Church. During the last month of her life, she moved into the Golden Living Center, then into the Eastern Star Nursing Home.
Lorraine is survived by her two daughters: LeAnn (Pastor Brian) Wasmoen of Redfield and their children: Judd Wasmoen of Omaha, NE and Jardy Wasmoen of Moorhead, MN; Lori (Ronald) Pagel and their children: Jeffrey (Chandra) Pagel and Timothy Pagel, all of Eyota, MN; her sister LaVerne Schipper and beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by husband Robert; brother Lester Casavan and sister Marcella Linksweiler. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be directed to the American Cancer Society, Eastern Star Nursing Home, and North Country Food Bank (Crookston).
