Lou Ann Anderson

June 30, 1932 — February 8, 2025

Crookston

Lou Ann Anderson, 92, of Crookston, Minnesota, passed away peacefully with family by her side on Saturday, February 8, 2025. She was born on June 30, 1932, to loving parents William and Marie (LaCross) Marleau in Red Lake Falls, Minnesota.

Lou Ann attended Red Lake Falls High School and graduated in the spring of 1952. She worked at Red Lake Dairy while in high school. After graduation, Lou Ann married her sweetheart, Richard Anderson, on November 26, 1952, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. They moved to East Grand Forks, and Lou Ann was a homemaker while Richard attended college. They moved to Crookston, where she worked at the Polk County Development Center, J.C. Penney’s, and the Mount St. Benedict. Lou Ann was a member of The Cathedral of Immaculate Conception and volunteered for many church functions.

Lou Ann enjoyed playing cards, and was an avid bridge player. She was a woman of many talents; being an excellent and creative seamstress, she would sew one-of-a-kind outfits for her children when they were young, and create beautiful quilts. She was also an outstanding knitter, making many gifts for family and friends: from sweaters to mittens, you could feel the love and care she put into each stitch. She crocheted tablecloths, doilies, amazing, uniquely designed dolls, and was an expert in cross-stitch and needlework. Lou Ann always had a project or two in the works, her passion and creativity spanning well into her later years, still having commissions for her work at the age of 91.

Her loving and creative spirit will be missed by all who knew her. Lou Ann is survived by her children, Debra (John) Dubuque, of Crookston, MN, Scott (Julie) Anderson, of Grand Rapids, MN, Richard Anderson, of Fargo, ND, Peggy (Byron) Swenson, of Crookston, MN, Karen Keefe, of Indian Rocks Beach, FL, Marleau (Leanne Akemann) Anderson, of Brainerd, MN; grandchildren, Amanda, Matthew, Christopher, Hannah, Rachel, Abby, Luci, Kyle, Clinton, Kendall, Jake, Myriah, Michaela, Lillian; great-grandchildren, Morgan, Madison, Ada, Cleo, Marleau, Connor, Anderson, Charlotte, Quinn, Kylie, Blake, Rhett, Eliot, Dylan, Isabelle; siblings, Terry Larson, of Bloomington, MN, Lynn Cashman, Mankato, MN; and sister-in-law, Bonnie Anderson, of Vergas, MN. She is preceded in death by her parents, Marie and William Marleau; husband of 59 years, Richard Anderson; five sisters, and two brothers; and son-in-law Mark Keefe.

May God bless the memory of Lou Ann Anderson.
