Lucille Sauve Brule, 98, of Crookston, MN, died peacefully Sunday afternoon, December 23, 2012, at the Villa St. Vincent in Crookston, with her loving family at her side. Lucille was born on February 5, 1914 at Terrebonne, MN, the 3rd of 12 children of the union of Ernest and Annie (Jolly) Sauve. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Terrebonne, attended Terrebonne elementary school, and graduated from St. Joseph's Academy in Crookston in 1932. On September 24, 1934 Lucille was united in marriage to Noel Joseph Brule at St. Anthony's Catholic Church. The couple farmed near Gentilly, MN, where they raised their 4 children: Roland, David, Delores, and Emily. After 43 years of farming, Lucille and Noel retired in 1977 and moved to a townhouse in Crookston. They enjoyed wonderful times at their lake home on Maple Lake, near Mentor; and spent many good years wintering in Homestead, FL, until Noel's passing on January 9, 1986. Lucille was able to remain in her home for another 25 years before moving to the Summit Apartments of the Villa on September 16, 2011. She was a devoted member of St. Peter's Catholic Church in Gentilly, St. Anne's Soldality, the Women's Catholic Order of Foresters, the Crookston Eagles Auxiliary, and the Gentilly Senior Citizens' Card Club. Lucille will be remembered for her delicious cooking, especially her caramel rolls and French crepes. She enjoyed reading cook books, tending her beautiful flower gardens, crocheting, playing cards, and visiting with family and friends. They will never forget her love of life, her kindness, sense of humor, and gratitude for all things. She was a beautiful, loving Mother and her children and their families will miss her always. Lucille was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Noel; her parents; 9 brothers; and 1 sister. She is survived by 4 children: Roland and Carole Brule of Red Lake Falls, MN, David and Kathy Brule of Gentilly, MN, Delores and Eddie Desrosier of Roseau, MN, and Emily and Kenneth Steil of Duluth, MN; 20 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great grandchildren; a sister, Henriette Edson of Florida; her good friend, Evelyn Audette of Crookston; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives. May God bless Lucille's memory. The Mass of Christian Burial for Lucille Brule will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, December 28, 2012, at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Gentilly, MN, with The Very Bob Schreiner, presiding, and Deacon Dennis Bivens, homilist. Visitation will be at the Stenshoel-Houske Funeral Home on Thursday from 5-7:00pm, with a 7:00pm prayer service, and visitation also at the Church for one hour prior to the funeral service. Interment will be in St. Peter's Cemetery, Gentilly, in the spring. In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorials be given in Lucille's name to the St. Peter's Catholic Church Restoration Fund. The family would like to thank the staff of the Summit and Villa for their wonderful care and support throughout Lucille's stay there. Special thanks also to the staff of Altru Hospice, and Dr. Bruce Ring of Altru Clinic, Crookston.
