Lyle D. Reitmeier, 81, of Battle Creek, MI, passed away in a hospital there on Monday, March 18, 2024.

 Lyle was born in Bethesda Hospital, Crookston, on March 31, 1942, the son of Leonard William and Amelia “Amy” (Drumheller) Reitmeier. His early years were spent growing up on a farm north of Crookston with his brother, Allan Lee, and sister, Merry Ann. He was baptized and confirmed in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Crookston. The family moved into Crookston in 1950 and Lyle graduated from Central High School with the Class of 1960. He enlisted in the US Air Force and while stationed in South Carolina was united in marriage to Patricia Jurko in 1962 at Joint Base Charlestown. Two sons were born to their union, Curtis Lyle and Bradley Allan. After his honorable discharge they moved to the western United States and Lyle began working for the Eaton Corporation. He later married Vera Stanton at Carson City, NV on November 18, 1988. Lyle’s Company transferred him to Kalamazoo, MI and then to Battle Creek, MI where he remained until retirement.

 Lyle is survived by his wife, Vera, of Battle Creek, MI; son, Curtis Reitmeier of Suisun City, CA; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and at the time of his passing, sister and brother-in-law, Merry Ann (Reitmeier) and David Macierzynski of Crookston, MN. He is preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Amy; son, Bradley Allan Reitmeier; and brother, Allan, who served with the US Army in Viet Nam, and died November 6, 2007 and is buried in the VA’s National Memorial Cemetery, Phoenix, AZ. Sadly, Lyle’s sister, Merry Ann Macierzynski,  passed away on April 18th, 2024. Blessed be the memory of Lyle D. Reitmeier.

 A graveside service honoring Lyle’s life will be held in the Oakdale Cemetery, Crookston, at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 29, 2024. Military Honors will be provided by the Grand Forks Air Force Base Funeral Honor Guard and the Crookston Veterans Council.
