Margaret Prudhomme

Margaret Elma Prudhomme, 92, of Crookston, MN, passed away peacefully with her husband by her side, on Thursday, November 24, 2016, at Riverview Hospital in Crookston. Margaret was born on April 25, 1924 to Emil and Ada Johnson in rural Crookston. She attended the District 68 grade school and graduated from Central High School in 1941. Margaret was very active in 4-H during these years. After graduation she was employed at the defense plant in St. Cloud, and then worked for a time at Douglas Lodge in Itasca State Park. She earned a teaching certification from the Park Rapids Normal School, and then taught at the Strickler School, District 256 School, and the Brick School on Hwy 2. On June 23, 1948 Margaret was united in marriage to Herman Prudhomme. Seven children were born to their union: Eileen, James, Aleta, Bonita, Jerry, Bob, and Jeff. Margaret was a member of the Church of Christ, the East Polk County Homemakers, and actively helped her children in 4-H. She enjoyed reading, sewing, crocheting, gardening, spending winters in Florida, and being with her family. Margaret is survived by her beloved husband of 68 years, Herman; their children: James (Gail) Prudhomme of Fargo, ND, Aleta (Ken) Brule of Cloquet, MN, Bonita (James) Dahl of Bemidji, MN, Bob (Geri Lynn) Prudhomme of Crookston, MN, and Jeff (Diane) Prudhomme of Grand Forks, ND; grandchildren: Joel, Jodi, Laura, Rachel, Gina, Londa, Peggy Anne, Randy, Kurt, and Teddi; great-grandchildren: Brandon, Rian and Ariana (twins), Anthony, Savannah, Bryce, Drew, Max, Grace, Jimmy, Pamela and Megan (twins), Kelsea, Lennon, Odin, and Marie; Jeff's grandchildren, Zackary and Emily; sisters, Jean Hoppe and Lois (Jerry) Kicker; and other relatives and friends. Margaret is preceded in death by her parents, Emil and Ada; daughter, Eileen Prudhomme; son, Jerry Prudhomme; twin sister, Barbara McGrane; brother, Marvin Johnson; niece, Marvella Snow; brothers-in-law: Ray Hoppe, George McGrane, Donald Prudhomme, and Teddy Prudhomme; and sisters-in-law: Patricia Johnson, Helen Prudhomme, and Doreen Prudhomme. The funeral service for Margaret Elma Prudhomme will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, December 1, 2016, at the Church of Christ, 321 5th Avenue South, in Crookston, MN. Visitation will be at the Stenshoel-Houske Funeral Home on Wednesday from 4:30-6:30 p.m., with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m., and visitation also at the church for one hour prior to the funeral.
