Margaret Marie Valley, age 72, of Crookston, MN, died Saturday afternoon, October 5, 2013, at the Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, surrounded by her loving family. Margaret Marie Hamlin was born on April 2, 1941 in White Earth, MN, daughter of Felix and Susan (Kloeppel) Hamlin. She grew up at Fosston, MN and attended country school there. The family moved to Crookston and she completed her education at Mount St. Benedict. Margaret was united in marriage with Duane Valley in 1960 at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Gentilly. They made their home in Crookston. Margaret babysat for family and neighbors alike. She enjoyed visiting and was known as a good listener. She also enjoyed sewing and working at a variety of crafts over the years. She loved her family, enjoying her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She lived at the Broadway Apartments for twenty-six years and recently entered the Hillcrest Nursing Home in Red Lake Falls. Margaret is survived by her children: Diana (Dean) Gudvangen of Fertile, MN, Glen Valley of Hazen, ND, Daniel Valley of Lake Park, MN, Jeffrey Valley of Minneapolis, MN, Dione (John) Cave of Poughkeepsie, NY, and Chad (Nikki) Jehs of Grand Forks, ND; nine grandchildren: Kristi, Sarah, Darin, Alex, Tianna, Rianna, Arianna, Tyler and Abby; six great-grandchildren: Taylor, Jordan, Brady, Dylan, Graden and Baby O.; two sisters: Dorothy Lunders of Erskine, MN and Rosalee (Jim) Faye of Twin Valley, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents: Felix and Susan Hamlin; four brothers: Felix "Phil", Ralph, Lester and Ronnie; two sisters: Betty Logan and Doris Briggs. A memorial service celebrating Margaret's life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 9, 2013, at the Stenshoel-Houske Funeral Home in Crookston with The Rev. Vincent Miller, officiating. Visitation with her family will be for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery, Crookston.
