Marilyn Bartz Garry, 77, passed away on Thursday, May 1, 2014.
She was born on August 1, 1936 in Lockhart, MN to Alfred and Gladys (Gunderson) Bartz. Marilyn grew up in Lockhart, MN, attended school in Lockhart, and graduated from Ada High School in 1954. She married John R. Garry in Crookston, MN, on December 27, 1958. The couple was happily married for 55 years, and farmed in the Euclid area for over fifty years.
Marilyn worked with the Euclid 4-H Club for many years, writing Share-the-Fun scripts and helping members prepare fair exhibits. She also found many years of enjoyment working in the offices of The Cathedral of Immaculate Conception. Marilyn's feisty spirit, compassionate personality, and love and devotion to her family and friends are her enduring legacy.
She is survived by her husband, John; sons, Patrick Garry of Grand Forks; Michael Garry, his wife, Kit Brady, their daughters, Hannah and Caroline, of Minneapolis, MN; daughters, Michelle and her husband, Jeff Tack, their children, Bradley, Nathan and Ashley of Salt Lake City, Utah; Barbara and her husband, Jerry Ward, their children, Samantha and Riley of Edina, MN, and sister, Judy Dugan and her husband, Dan of Ventura, CA. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Gladys Bartz of Lockhart, MN. The Mass of Christian Burial for Marilyn Garry will be held at 2:00PM, Tuesday, May 6, 2014, at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, 702 Summit Avenue, Crookston, MN, with The Very Rev. Bob Schreiner, presiding. Visitation will be at the Stenshoel-Houske Funeral Home in Crookston on Monday from 5-7:00PM, with a 7:00PM prayer service, and will continue at the church for one hour prior to the funeral. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
