Norma Fredricka Borden, 94, passed away peacefully holding her daughter’s hands on Monday, October 21, 2024, at the Villa St. Vincent in Crookston, Minnesota. Norma was born in Rockford, Illinois on March 30, 1930, to parents Gilbert and Agnes (Olstad) Hanson.
Norma was a mother to five children, Valda, Leasa, Laura, Norma, and Lawrence—who sadly passed away in 1989. She was a natural born caregiver, finding her calling as a mother and Registered Nurse early in life. She always believed in helping others, she was never too busy to lend her time to anyone. Norma, Registered Nurse, leaves a legacy of generations of caregivers including her daughter’s Laura and Norma, as well as granddaughter’s, Kimberly and Ramona to mourn her passing.
Beyond her professional achievements, Norma found joy in the simple pleasures of life, particularly in her culinary creations. She was famously known for her cookies, muffins, and bread that she was always happy to share with others. Aside from baking, Norma found immense joy in her love for animals and knitting. Norma loved spending time with others and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Norma leaves behind four children: Valda Tallman, of Chandler, Arizona, Leasa Vedbraaten, of Crookston, Laura (Tom) Dravitz, of Moorhead, MN, and Norma (John) Barrus, of Crookston; Grandchildren, Zachary Tallman, Camille Tallman, Randy Haglund: Kimberly (Brandon) Anderson, James (Carli) Dravitz, John (Jocelyn) Dravitz Alex Kaiser, Ramona Kaiser; Great-Grandchildren: Aadyn, Kinsley, Jordan, and Graham; a brother, Gilbert (Sally) Hanson; as well as many other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents, Gilbert and Agnes Hanson, and her son, Lawrence, sisters’, Catherine Hain, Jo Herbel and a son-in-law James Tallman.
Norma’s family would like to extend a special thank you to all of the caregivers at the Villa St. Vincent for taking care of their mother, they are deeply grateful for the care and kindness you showed Norma every day and for making her life as comfortable as possible while there.
A celebration of life will be held at the Villa St. Vincent, on Sunday, October 27, 2024, at 1:00 PM. Please join the family after for fellowship for refreshments at 2:00 PM, also at the Villa.
