Polly Briggs-Worf

Polly Christine Briggs-Worf, was called home on Tuesday, February 21, 2017, at the Riverview Care Center in Crookston, MN.
Polly was born on May 5, 1931, in Godfrey Township, Polk County, MN, to Earl and Nettie (Dale) Hennager. She was united in marriage to David LeRoy Briggs on August 29, 1949, in Crookston, MN. Sadly after nearly 25 years of marriage, David passed away August 2, 1973. Polly lived in the Fertile and Mentor, MN areas in 1941. She moved to Gonvick, MN in 1943 and then moved to Crookston, MN in 1950. Polly married Charles William Worf on September 6, 1974 in Crookston, MN. He too, passed away November 29, 1987.
Over the years, Polly worked as a housekeeper for St. Francis Hospital until she became a Social Case Worker for Polk County Social Services. Upon leaving Polk County Social Services, she worked as a housekeeper for Riverview Hospital. As children were always near and dear to her, she left Riverview and became a Day Care Provider.
Polly was a member of the VFW Auxiliary, a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church, the Foster Grandparent Program through Tri-Valley Opportunity Council, and a member of a Square Dancing club.
Polly enjoyed bowling, square dancing, crocheting, quilting, and playing cards. She was well known for her chicken and dumpling soup and potato dumplings. Polly shared her love of Christmas by baking for days and giving the fruits of her labors in the form of beautiful platters of Christmas cookies, bars and banana bread, to her family and friends. She enjoyed taking the time to teach her children and daughter-in-law's how to make her chicken and dumpling soup, potato dumplings, and much more.
Polly is survived by her children: David Earl Briggs of Valley City, ND, Clayton Lee (Mary Elizabeth) Briggs of Crookston, MN, Thereasa Helen Briggs Knaus of San Antonio, TX, and Vanessa Kay (Rodney) Fassbender of Valley City, ND; 12 Grandchildren; 28 Great Grand Children; 8 Great-Great Grandchildren, and one on the way; sisters, Edna Klema of Crookston, MN, Olive Sperling of Bemidji, MN; a brother, John (Estelle) Hennager of Leeds, ND; and many other friends and relatives.
Polly was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Nettie Hennager; husband, David L. Briggs; husband, Charles Worf; a baby daughter, Clarissa; brothers, George Hennager and Virgil Hennager. May God bless Polly's memory.
The funeral service for Polly will be held at 2:00 p.m. with a visitation one hour prior to service on Monday, February 27, 2017 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Crookston, MN. Interment will be at Oakdale Cemetery in Crookston, MN.
