Raymond Albert Thielke, 81, of Crookston, MN, died Monday morning, December 26, 2016, at the Villa St. Vincent in Crookston. In failing health he had entered the Villa the Friday before his passing. Ray was born at Fisher, MN on March 14, 1935, the son of William and Clara (Wagner) Thielke. The family moved from Fisher to McIntosh where he graduated from high school in 1953. Ray later moved to East Grand Forks and was employed as a master mechanic at Absey Lincoln Mercury in Grand Forks. In 1968 he began working for Rydell Chevrolet in the same capacity, retiring from there in 1997. In semi-retirement Ray was a receptionist at the Villa St. Vincent from 2007 to2014. Ray enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was also an avid nature and wildlife photographer, and his specialty was photographing whitetail deer. He owned a cabin in Beltrami County and took great pride in working on it and finishing the interior spaces. It was his special place to spend time, and one of his fondest memories was of the big buck he shot one deer hunting season on the 40 acres he owned around the cabin. Ray was a devoted member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Crookston where he served on the Board of Trustees, and was head usher for 21 years. He was a member of the National Rifle Association, Minnesota Deer Hunters' Association, Minnesota Conservation Federation, and a life member of the North American Hunting Club. Ray is survived by cousins: Charles Frisbie of Washougal, WA, Gerald and William Thielke of Willmar, MN, Marvin Thielke of Kandiyohi, MN, and Velma Schlick of Charles City, IA; and many 2nd cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Clara; brother, Roy Thielke; and other relatives. May God bless Ray's memory. The funeral service for Raymond Albert Thielke will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 30, 2016, at Our Savor's Lutheran Church in Crookston, MN with The Rev. Steve Bohler, officiating.
