Robert G. Brule, 83, of Crookston, MN, died peacefully Sunday evening, January 11, 2015, at the Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND. Bob was born on the family farm near Gentilly, MN on November 30, 1931, the son of Eldage and Leontine (Reopelle) Brule. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Peter's Catholic Church and attended a nearby country school. For several years Bob and his brother, Andrew, worked for their father on the farm, and he also served with the National Guard. On April 24, 1952 Bob was united in marriage to Darlyne Youngquist at St. Peter's. The couple's first home was in Gentilly and their marriage was soon blessed by the births of four children: Patsy, Deb, Larry, and Mary. After living in Gentilly for three years, Bob, Darlyne and their growing family moved into Crookston. Bob and his brother, Andy, farmed together for several years and also operated a gravel business. Bob later drove a semi for Arden Leas and then went on his own with Brule and Son Trucking. In the 1970's he began carpentering and established Brule Builders. As his working career was coming to a close he was employed by Structures Inc. of Grand Forks doing building construction until his retirement. Sadly, Darlyne passed away on April 17, 1975. In 1993, Bob moved to the Remer-Longville, MN area and purchased a home on Lake Trelipe, which he spent several years remodeling and turning into quite a showplace. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, restoring antique jeeps, and tinkering with small engines. Bob returned to Crookston in January of 2014 to be closer to his family, and became a resident of the Summit at Villa St. Vincent. He will be very fondly remembered for his sense of humor, which was very much in evidence as he joked with his family, doctors, and nurses right to the end. He will be sadly missed by his kids and their families, and his many friends. Bob leaves four children: Patsy Fallon of Mentor, MN, Deb Lamoreux of North Mankato, MN, Larry Brule of Crookston, MN, and Mary (Philip) Swenson of Fertile, MN; ten grandchildren: Monica Fallon (Jason Johnson), Melissa Fallon, Bill Lamoreux, Jaci (Craig) Hanson, Nicole (Tom) Lindo, Joshua (Jamie) Brule, Justin Brule, Nick Swenson, Eric (Jamie) Swenson, and Nathan (Krystal) Swenson; and fifteen great-grandchildren: Fallon and Autumn Johnson, Cole, Grant, Will, Max, and Grace Hanson, Kayden, Brady, and Kenzie Lindo, Emily and Brynlee Brule, Olive Swenson, and Carter and Logan Swenson. He is also survived by a sister, Lorraine Amiot of Crookston; two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Brule and Doris (John) Polley, of Crookston; two brothers-in-law, William "Duke" (Joann) Youngquist and Don Youngquist of Crookston; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives. In addition to his beloved wife, Darlyne, Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Eldage and Leontine Brule; three brothers, Maurice, Harvey, and Andrew Brule; a granddaughter, Jaime Lamoreux; parents-in-law, Lawrence and Alice Youngquist; and two sisters-in-law, Shirley Youngquist and Dolly Youngquist. May God bless Bob's memory. The celebration of the life of Robert G. Brule will be held at 10:30 am, Monday, January 19, 2015, at the Stenshoel-Houske Funeral Home in Crookston with The Rev.
