Rodney Lanctot

August 8, 1949 — December 5, 2011

Rodney Francis "Big R" Lanctot, 62, of Crookston, MN, passed peacefully into the arms of the Lord late Monday evening, December 5, 2011, in the Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND, with his loving family at his side. Rodney was born in Crookston on August 8, 1949, one of eleven children of the union of James and Marcella (Ricard) Lanctot. He grew up on the family farm, near Crookston, and was baptized and confirmed in St. Peter's Catholic Church in Gentilly. Rodney graduated from Crookston Central High School in 1967, where he wrestled for several years on the Pirate varsity team. Over the years he was an avid bowler, and together with his brother, Mike, participated in the Crookston Bowling League. On March 1, 1975 Rodney was united in marriage to Carol Anne Carriere in Crookston. Three children were born to their union: Matthew, RaeAnne, and Jarrod. Rodney worked for his uncle, Vern Ricard, in the sodding business, and later for Dahlgren and Company until his retirement due to ill health. Nothing was more fun to Rodney than a good game of cards, or shooting pool with friends. He was very proud of his children and grandchildren and will be greatly missed by all who were part of his life. Rodney is survived by his 3 children: Matthew (Shana) Lanctot of Red Lake Falls, MN, RaeAnn (Paul) Reinhart and Jarrod Lanctot of Crookston; 7 grandchildren: Catherine Jo, Lila, Dennis, and Mary Lanctot, and Allison, Tanner, and Alexis Reinhart; 3 brothers, Mike (Shereen) Lanctot of Avon, MN, Steve Lanctot of Gentilly, MN, and Tom (Glenda) Lanctot of Hallock, MN; 6 sisters, Julie (Larry) Perleberg of Jamestown, ND, Janna Lanctot (companion, Tim Linderman)

of Valley City, ND, Lisa (Vern) Gustafson of Mentor, MN, Sandy (Jack) Pint of Hazen, ND, Tracy Lanctot (fiancé, George Ruggles) of Jamestown, and Kelly (Brian) McWaters of Wahpeton, ND; a sister-in-law, Sharon Lanctot of Crookston; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Marcella; a brother, Robert; and 2 nephews, Joshua Lanctot and Coty Gustafson. May God bless the memory of Rodney "Big R" Lanctot.
