Sally Bendickson, 93, of Rocklin, California, died Sunday August 26, 2013. Sally was born at Union, North Dakota, on December 6, 1919, the daughter of Claus and Marie (Johnson) Brottem. She moved with her family to rural Crookston in the early 1920's and attended country school. Following the death of her father, Sally moved into Crookston where she graduated from Central High School and the Hughes Business College. She was united in marriage to Lloyd O. Bendickson on April 8, 1942 in Crookston, and they were both active members of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Sally was employed as a bookkeeper for the J. E. Schraeder Company until 1967 when she and Lloyd moved to Redwood City, California. Sally worked as a bookkeeper for Stickney's Restaurants there for over twenty years. She and Lloyd were devoted members of the Messiah Lutheran Church in Redwood City. In 1999 the couple moved to an adult community in Rocklin, California, and sadly, Lloyd passed away that same year on June 19th. Sally continued to make her home in Rocklin and enjoyed playing "Canasta," reading, and doing a variety of puzzles. At the time of her death she was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Rocklin. Loving family members include two sons and their wives: Lee Bendickson and Carol Nielsen of Rapid City, South Dakota, and Dean and Rebecca Bendickson of Rocklin, California; six grandchildren: Brett, TJ, and Matthew Bendickson, Sabrina McPherron, Andrew Bendickson and Stacey Bruggeman; six great-grandchildren: Jane, Isaac, and Tyler Bendickson and Carter, Halle, and Madilyn Bruggeman; a half brother-in-law, Ken Bendickson of Oregon; a half sister-in-law, Barbara Thomas of La Verne, California; a special friend and sister-in-law, Edna Bendickson of Crookston, Minnesota, and several nieces and nephews. Sally was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd; a son, Les; her parents, Claus and Marie Brottem; four brothers: Martin, Art, John and Walter Brottem; three sisters: Claire Scobey, Emily Moehn, and Gladys Bendickson; a beloved niece, Carol Morris; and good friend and nephew, Larry Bendickson. May God richly bless Sally's memory.
