Scott Alan Brown, 61, of Crookston, died October 13, 2015 at Altru Rehaab Center in Grand Forks, ND. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, October 26, 2015 at the Stenshoel-Houske Funeral and Cremation Service.
Scott was born January 27, 1954 in Wichita Falls, TX, to John and Delores (Mikleby) Brown. They later moved to East Grand Forks, MN. where Scott attended Sacred Heart School. Scott worked at American Crystal Sugar Company and then moved on to construction until 1996. He then went to work at New Flyer, in Crookston, MN. and worked there until Medical Retirement in 2007. Scott married Janet L. Bateman on August 18, 1972 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. They had 4 children: David, Edward, Jeremy, and Wade.Scott later moved to the Twin cities area where he met Ida Moen. Together they had a daughter, Ashley Brown. Scott loved working with wood.He liked to help remodel homes with his sons .He loved spending time with his grandchildren. Scotts' grandchildren will never forget the ice cream they got for breakfast when grandma was not at home. Scott had a great sense of humor and could lighten anyone's day with his wonderful smile. Scott is survived by sons: David (Kerri) Howell, MI, Edward (Lisa), Jeremy (LeAnn) and Wade all of Crookston, MN , and daughter Ashley of Grand Forks, ND, 4 brothers: Edward Lars (Linda) Brown, Spring Lake Park, MN, Fred, Jim and Chris Metcalf of East Grand Forks, MN; 4 sisters: Laurie(Curt) Moen, Jenny (Doug) Mondor of East Grand Forks, MN. Tina Metcalf, of Grand Forks, ND., and Betty Metcalf of Emerado, ND. Grandchildren:Hannah and Jenna Brown, Howell MI, Molly, Zach and Carly Brown of Crookston, MN., Morgan Milling of East Grand Forks, MN. Brittney and Corey Chapman, Crookston, MN and Jamie Brown, Crookston, MN. Lindsay, Jaydin, Tylar Nelson, of Crookston, MN and McKenzie Brown of Crookston, MN. Greatgrandchildren Brayden, Willow and Scarlett. He was preceded in death by his father, John Brown, his mother and step-father Delores (Lolly) and Howard Metcalf of East Grand Forks, MN. Grandparents Frederick and Mabel Metcalf, Grandfather Edwin Mikleby, and grandmother and step-grandfather Alice and Carl Grim.
